As is with low power mode most of the features like AOD and others which are exclusive for 8 and 9 are disabled so I feel se2 is a better value option. And do you have any problems with the display size?

@@nyseldias battery life is great for me, although I disabled pretty much all notifications and I keep my watch face super simple as I primarily use this as a fitness tracking tool, so that’s helped extend the battery life each day. Screen size is perfect for my needs. Keep in mind I’m coming from a series one Apple Watch, so this SE2 is a massive upgrade all around. Since I’ve got mine I’ve never once wished I spent more on an 8 or 9. SE2 is perfect for my needs 👍🏼

I think if you are buying your first watch then you can't go wrong with the SE. A lot of watch for the money. That being said, it is totally worth it for the always on display, faster charging, and larger screen imho. There are a lot of nice-to-haves, which if you think of the cost over say 2-3 years aren't a huge deal if you have the cash. Being able to check the time without having to raise my arm is much more useful than I first thought, I don't think I can go back..

This a good honest review. I actually bought a Series 9 45 mm despite already owning a SE 44 mm. The S9 replaced my Series 3 as I always like to have a charged watch ready to go. My main point is that after playing with the additional sensors, I really didn’t find the Series 9 that much different than the SE. I even still primarily use my SE for work outs because it’s a LTE model (so can leave phone home). Again thanks for great review.

You made it easier for me to make a choice. I have ADHD and the part where you said the always on on the series 9 was distracting, was a point of realization that it’s maybe better to let the watch turn off. I mostly will use the watch to reduce screen time and have an easy way to see the time and watch my notifications. SE2 it ia, thank you!

Thank you - I appreciate the kind words! As far as not having a number on your phone, I don't think it'll be a big deal. Your watch can operate independently via WiFi or be tethered to your phone via Bluetooth, which will basically mirror your phone's functionality.

I have been using Apple Watch SE 2. The TWO thing to note: 1. The 40 mm not only looks tiny (kiddy) it's hard to tap and to read on. So until and unless you have a 12 year old's wrist, go for SE 44 mm. 2. The lack of keyboard will actually matter because when you get a text/ WhatsApp, your instinct is to reply. But typing anything on the swipe keyboard is just impossible. That will bother you for sure. As the whole idea of an Apple Watch is not have to reach for your phone for minor tasks.

Yeah this is why I'm leaning towards the Series 9. Because it has the keyboard as well as the fast-charging, as I like to wear it to monitor my sleep, so I like to have it on for a prolonged period of time.

You'll be moving your arms enough while running that the screen usually on anyways. Just checking your wrist in a natural way, is almost always enough for the screen to turn on, if it's off. I run all the time with the Always-On disabled.

New watches are released every September. The SE 2 hasn't been updated since 2022, but my guess is that the SE 3 doesn't come out until 2025.

Apple refurbished series 9 45mm for £319 or new SE2 44mm for £249 is where my heads at to choose between for my first Apple Watch. My thoughts are for just £70 more the 9 can get same updates as the new series 10 has stock. I’ve seen the series 10 and despite larger display I still think the smaller one at £399 is a bit small on a guys wrist so I’d be paying £450 odd for the larger one. Any thoughts?

You are extremely knowledgeable on Apple Watches and greatly appreciated. When you compare watches consider the age and psychical abilities of people purchasing these watches as I’m 60 with 2 knees , 2 hips , foot reconstruction and 4 back surgeries and need the fall detection, there are a lot of features that help elderly and disabled that you don’t emphasize on. I have done research and purchased the proper watch to help me in many situations. So please add those to your consideration.

As a leading reviewer ... you REALLY need to talk to several older (like me at 80) who need the SE... WHY? Because we don't really need the workout support... we need a fall detection and call for help with cell in case the phone is not close by. That call on a fall could be a real life saver. I really doubt you thought of that! I think you could do a full program on older users!

I'm currently testing the S10 now. Not a ton different from the S9, but definitely noticeably thinner. I did a comparison of the Ultra vs S9 that you might find helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bauvlKqKbdeBmtU I like the S10 and Ultra 2 a lot, and wore the Ultra 2 for a year. Once I'm done testing for review purposes, I'll likely keep the S10 because it's just so much lighter than the Ultra. But it's a toss up!
