Agreed… I used my Ultra 1 for 2 years and my new Ultra Black everyday… playing sports.. many many hours in the ocean surfing… and they have all stayed in perfect condition …. Love this watch! So thankful they finally released it in black although the Titanium Ultra one always looked amazing as well.

If I had a way to load a photo with a timestamp I would. I didn’t even know to look at the battery health before this video. Says max capacity 99%. I bought it the moment it was released in September of 2022. I charge every other day roughly and don’t wear it sleeping (I turn it off). I’ve pretty much worn it daily, though. All I can think of. Maybe I got the best one Apple ever made?!

My only complaint with the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (black) , is there is so many features on the watch, 2 months in I’m still learning new things. Mine a couple of months in still looks pristine . One of things I love about this watch is, I can be in a supermarket which has quite a lot of ambient noise and take a phone call on the watch , and the person on the other end can hear me as clear as bell, also having a phone in your watch means you never miss a phone call , and the haptics on the watch are great. For me the biggest draw cards to the Apple Watch Ultra was the robustness of the watch, ( watches usually don’t last me long) , and the battery life , and these are the main reasons I didn’t go with the other Apple Watch model.

I volunteer at a heritage steam railway (locomotive crew) and wear my Ultra 2 natural finish. I don't give it a thought.. it stands up to the rough and tumble (no visible scratches) and at times extreme heat without a problem. Then I wear it in the shower afterwards to clean it, swap out my "work" band for another and good to go for daily use. Works for me.

Im loving the ultra2 in black so far. To me it looks and feels so much better than the natural titanium I had with the ultra 1. No scratches at all; I understand that with the black coating, over time you might see some scratches- not something I’m worried about at all.

Mine has not survived contact with stone. Kitchen counters, surfaces like that very easily scratch away the black coating around the the display edge.

Aaron, this video could not have come at a more opportune time (pardon the pun). I've had my black Ultra 2 for a little over a month, and have been running the public betas. I freaked out when my battery percentage jumped from 100 percent all the way down to 93 percent in the month and change since purchase, so after installing the latest PB yesterday, I noticed this afternoon that the battery health jumped back to normal at 100 percent, and of course you mention this in your excellent video! So far after coming from a Graphite stainless steel series seven, I am getting used to the larger size and girth of the Ultra 2. I love the long battery life and black titanium finish, but I still have to get used to the flat screen. I constantly find myself running my fingers around the edges. They can be a bit sharp. I loved the way the screen curved down into the body of the normal watch, but I am getting used to it. All in all, very happy with the Ultra Series 2 and would not look back! My original Ultra is at 95% battery capacity. I’ve loved my experience with it. Still absolutely no signs of scratches on the screen and it’s just as fast. Just wish the voice to text was better but that’s probably software.

Just got mine 1 week ago, upgraded from Apple Watch Ultra first generation. Black Apple Watch look fantastic, Milanese loop is so comfortable, I even start wearing watches during sleep time. The performance is super fast compare first generation I’ve noticed it right away.

Bought the new black titanium AWU2 happy with everything. My biggest issue is the screen dimming. It’s dimming when it’s dark. The solution prpvided by apple “minimum brightness” seems to work counter intuitively as it basically bricks screen brightness setting. What apple neds to do is use the screen brightness setting as the minimum plus input from ambient light sensor or a min max setting. If this isn’t possible they could jusr make a control center button for screen brightness.

I've got an Ultra 2 in black with matching black Apple Milanese loop strap. Personally love it however sometimes I do wonder if I'd have been better off with the Natural Titanium... So far durability has been great but I am starting to see slivers of silver metal (titanium) shining through on the sharp edge of the border. The o2 sensor is enabled for me in the UK so no complaints there.

Mines exactly the same some silver showing through it’s inevitable so you just have to accept it. It ads to the character of the watch it’s a rugged out door watch so try not to sweat it. You can get a cover but I think it ruins the look of the watch personally

Bought one a month ago and love it. I think if you have money to throw away and want an Apple Watch, go ahead and get it (or if you’re into extreme sports). I think for the normal everyday person tho, the Apple Watch 10 is good for them. But this is a watch I know will last me for several years. I don’t know why there are people angry it’s not a completely new upgrade, these watches aren’t being made to be swapped out every generation

I use wear mine everyday and sleep with it but the problem I have is with Spotify music, I try to play music on my watch rather than phone and it only works half the time, it’ll load then not switch my music from iPhone to watch. I have to turn off my phone then it works immediately

The Ultra 2 Black is my first Apple Watch. Big fan of the color and the battery lasts as advertised. How ever accidentally banged it at a doorpost and a tiny shiny spot is showing at certain angles. 😢 With that said I expect a lot worse considering the noise it made smashing in to the post.

The great thing about the Watch Ultra series is that most of us will charge them once every two days. Completing a charge cycle will take three days. The battery health on these things won't dwindle for many many years.

Excellent review! I will keep my series one ultra and see what happens next year. The only reason I’m thinking about getting another one is my battery health has dropped to 85% so I’m not getting two full days anymore. Based on this review, I will continue to keep the natural titanium when I get another.

Hello Aaron, My first iPhone was the 13 Pro Max, previously I used a Samsung Galaxy. Currently, I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but I’ve never owned an Apple Watch. Personally, I am a collector of G-Shocks-I have 9 in my collection and was planning to buy a 10th to round off a nice number. I wonder how often you swap the band so the joint looks scratched up. I am using Series 7 black titanium and swap the band once every two weeks. There is still no scratch or nicks. I only use braided solo loop and leather link btw.

Ultra should be tougher than 10 unless you buy the titanium vers. 10 w/ sapphire crystal disp. in which case they should be equally as durable.

I still have the original Ultra. It has worked flawlessly for me since its release over two yrs ago with its battery health still lasting well over two days. I think that the only thing that eill make me upgrade in the future is 1) longer battery health, like one week, and 2) possibly a new design, but this is doubtful as I think the Ultra looks great and is not too big for me.

I have a natural titanium ultra 1, a black titanium ultra 2 and a gold stainless steel series 6 which I rotate between. I had the black ultra since it became available to the public and don’t have a scratch on it. I mostly wear it under normal everyday conditions but love it when vacationing. The batter life is noticeably better than the ultra 1. Both the ultra 1 and black ultra 2 look amazing with the apple titanium loop bands. I wear these watches 6 days a week.

Its an outdoor watch that's meant to be worn and used by folks who are active.. Consequently, it will receive nicks and scratches like any watch with that use case. Yes, it's not an inexpensive watch but again, IMHO its meant for an active lifestyle. Scratches and nicks are part of that lifestyle.

I had DLC coated watches in the past and they never went scratch or rub free. The problem is that you can see it now even better because the lighter Ti is visible. If you watch the sell the watch eventually, keep this in mind!

I have AW Ultra 2 for more than a year and the battery is 100%. I do not want y to go with Watch without Oxygen censor and may be but AW3 in Canada, but not sure. I used to swap them every year, but now Apple is what it is :-( Thanks for the video. Peace!

I have the watch for 2 months and I exercise 90 minutes a day 5 times a week and have not scratched it. How did you manage to scratch it in 1 month of use with very light activity!!!! You are a watch hooligan!!!! The watch is the most scratch resistant in the market but if you are not careful you can scratch it!!! I have a friend with a natural titanium and he has scratches because he is not careful. I do not agree that the natural titanium is more durable the black is more durable bout this depends on the person wearing it!!!

Not happy with the current Apple Watch I have, as it dropped to 89% battery health in a year that I’ve had it (last week of October). It’s an Apple Watch SE second gen. Thankfully I have AppleCare+, so if it hits 79% or lower before next October, I can just get a $0 battery replacement

Depends on how you define better since the S10 lacks the battery capacity, doesn’t have an action button, virtually doesn’t utilize the slightly more pixels it has and the material the watch is made of is slightly less durable as well, unless you get the titanium version which then is almost as expensive as the Ultra while lacking a lot of the Ultras features
