Sometimes, the phrase "half your age" isn't literal. Sometimes, it's more of like a rounding up thing. Either for emphasis or to be dramatic or sarcastic. Like the example of someone telling a 40 yr old man dating a 28 year old women that he shouldn't be dating someone "half his age".
