Same here. I used iPhone many years, but switched to Android 8 years ago. This feature was one of the many reasons. Will it be possible in iOS18??

Playing videos in the app is a TERRIBLE experience. Everything else can be customized and I guess I'll get used to it but the videos won't let me go to full screen and then press play, they need to start before going into full screen. Then, in full screen, it doesn't appear you can scrub back and forth. Whose idea was this? Am I doing something wrong?

Photos update is a joke. What we need is for the photos to be moved in to an album and remove them from the Recents! So frustrating they can’t do this basic feature.

The way they have it now is way simpler, this way your grandma can't move something to a folder and lose it, you always know all your photos are there in the camera roll

This is totally what i hate from the literation of photos. All i want is my camera roll and albums, not the auto photo organisation that apple thinks its doing right but actually miserably. Apple tried removing camera roll before and reversed the decision. Lets see again.

They've actually made the camera roll the main thing, so it's all on the same screen as the camera roll, you don't have to switch away from it. And you can customise what sections you want so you can just have albums if you want

It still does not do the one basic thing that would help organization. If a photo is moved to another album it needs to be removed from the Recents/ Main folder. How can I ever organize 50k plus photos if the main stack never shrinks?? This is so elementary I don’t understand why they haven’t implemented it.

@@pawelpow that’s stupid and does not make sense. Makes it impossible to organize. If I have pics of my dog in a folder and pics of my car in a folder why would I still need them in the main folder? That should just be for things I haven’t sorted out yet.

@@pawelpow another point. It’s called Recents. Every photo isn’t recent! I have photos dating back to 2015. Recents name would make sense if they applied my logic.

Instead of redesigning the photos app o wish they would have done more useful subtle updates like being able to change the thumbnail of a video to any frame within the video or being able to needle drop a location on a photo like you can on Mac or even being able to add photos to folders without having them stay in your library

Ugh. “Specific types of content”. My personal photos aren’t “content”. The very LAST thing mentioned is a tiny feature to “Make the Photos App your very own…” (favorites?!)

it’s absolutely atrocious 📸 WTF were they thinking? Even after customizing it, photos still sucks. “Favorites” is nowhere to be found and under “utilities” it highlights “receipts” which is absolutely useless 🤦🏻‍♂️

When your authorized service center confirms that the green screen issue on is due to a software update, why are they asking for Rs 35,000 to fix it? The phone is over 2 years old and out of warranty. If I buy your new model now and after a year, the green screen issue occurs again due to a software update, you will just ask for Rs 40,000 or Rs 50,000 to fix it. Then, with the next software update, the green screen issue might happen again, and you will suggest buying a new phone. This process will keep repeating. How are consumers expected to afford Rs 1.5 lakhs every year just to buy your phone due to the green screen issue caused by software updates?

I just want it to remove duplicates, and be able to sort and filter by whatever I desire. And have a way to share long-form video content with others easily, and archive all this for future generations.

Photo app is a catastrophy - cannot find anything with the old search citerias - nothing supereasy - not good, horrible! - I want a simple map display with a simple command because I remember where I took the pictures. Then, who on earth decided that the last pictures category is now messed up under sth I cannot understand nor find stuff - please on top “map” function and still I need the full chronological order of all pictures/ videos to apply the search function . This new super category is a mess - used ios 18 on Pad and iphone, had various social encounters and couldn’t show quickly anything to my customers anymore - this is messed up!

Pure cosmetics, not one useful function here. Since 20010 or so, they refused to give it a "resize" button, like o (original), m (medium size), and s (small). They probably think it's too "pro" and prefer to make people send around 12, 24 or 40MP photos....

✅ I think Apple has brought more to the table with many AI ML features that are useful and productive in daily life. I was impressed by Samsung S24AI and curses apple but I think Apple has steal the show with Apple Intelligence and other new features introduced in iOS, MacOS and ipadOS.

Hey Apple, your redesign of the photos app totally and completely sucks !!!! All my friends hate it as well and it’s getting tons of bad reviews. It was perfect the way it was. Please give us the option to revert back to the original photos app. And Apple, your new camera BUTTON totally sucks as well !!!! Apparently, y’all at Apple want everyone to switch to Samsung.
