True his acting skill are amazing, he got into character in and out. The fact I am surprise he is just 22 y.o and he with the female actress really built the chemistry very well they don’t seem have the age gap. The pattern are clear without pull and push. The scenario are good. His little smile to see Jiang li in the film show how lonely his character is. His character so easy going in real life.

I read the comments about the fact that the age difference is not visible! The reason is in the very good script! The main character is ALREADY married. This subconsciously makes the viewer perceive her as a young woman, but not an innocent girl. For this reason, she perfectly fits the age of the actress! And even if the mail main character is younger, this difference is perceived as normal because of the already clarified scenario! Dramas in which the actress is 30 and plays a 16-year-old in the script always reinforce the feeling that the main character is actually an adult. This is why the script is extremely important!

And that's exactly why everything is so good in the script - you understand that she's smart because she has more experience (including a bad experience from having her own husband lie to her)! She's best with ancient settings drama than modern ones, yet they only gave her modern ones after SOYP so most of it didn't sustain her fame after SOYP, while Xu Kai got more. She's like being neglected by her management for years after SOYP, so happy that now she's back with The Double. I hope they don't do that again to her and I wish they're not using her to promote rising actors their management lol since she's from the same management with Xu Kai and Wang Xingyue

The problem is not the age difference between the two actors but the idea that a 30 year plus should seem as if she is still her own 20 something self. This is an Asian delusion which overshadows asian actresses more than their male colleagues. The irony is that an actress in her early 20s is less likely to ace the character of Jiang Li as well as this talented actress who is now in her early 30s 😂
