You've got blacksmiths there to replace worn shoes, vets checking the horses, no horse even showing signs of being exhausted or injured is allowed to run.

2 horses and a foal that i have looked after went there and the RSPCA check them and give the owner prise on the best looking horses to arrive (so far) and give them a free farrier make over.

Having been to Appleby fair several times in my life, I can tell you that the horses are treated humanely most of the time. Cant blame the whole Romani population for a few bad apples.
@lumini31724 жыл бұрын
Songbird01 Yeah, because chasing horses into water with whips, kicking them, trying to completely submerge them under water (leading to a horse drowning in 2007) slapping them, jerking their heads around, yelling at them, and whipping them is very humane and ethical to do to horses that are obviously scared, especially to little foals.

When the man was having the horses pull the cart it was obvious that one of their back legs was lame and/or injured
@thewr0ngchild10 жыл бұрын
The on site vets should have pulled him. Vets line the 'flashing' lanes and so do RSPCA, any horse unfit to pull is pulled aside for assessment and treatment, often it is just a case of rest.

Gypsy horse care is different as they are not mollycoddled as they are NOT PETS, they are a way of life, the vanners and buggy riders rely on these horses, and the horses on them, as has been for man for CENTURIES. If one is a little rough it doesn't mean he needs arresting, the horse would kick out if it really felt in danger. Do you think a gypsy vanner would put his best puller in danger? no me neither! I Along the route to the fair the vanners and buggy riders stop and uncouple their horses for a drink and a graze! I say we keep Appleby where horses are cared for by independent vets who give up their day to man the fair, and scrap the grand natonal, which KILLS HORSES. Lets get back to what the horse is meant to be for, working, stop breeding thin boned creatures who can easily be injured and return to grand horses like the cob and shire and drought, and only breed lighter boned for teaching people to ride. Infact I have ridden a shire, and the experience was amazing, 6 laps of an open field, wind on my face, horse LOVING IT, I felt honored to have ridden such a gentle giant.

You are obviously very ignorant. Many of the horses in this video showed fear, jumpiness, and were obviously not happy. Why does almost every person I see have a whip? Because they whip the horses whenever they try to get out of what they are scared to do. Do you think horses love swimming in muddy water with a heavy person on their back? Some even had two riders. And what about the foals? Most of the ones I saw were practically jumping out of their skins if someone got too close. I saw many people hitting horses, often in the face (example: 12:17 the horse didn’t even do anything wrong and got hit hard in the face with a rope). No wonder they’re so jumpy. Explain this kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKutYZ2ZlMmVfck Yeah, they obviously love these horses (pssst, that’s sarcasm).

I would never waste my time, money or business with people who initiate and exploit those sales or festivals. My equine is treated as an extension of my self and is given reward with release, kindness, and encouragement. Not paraded at high speeds on busy roads with painful percussion, nor forced into rivers, tied to unsteady city street rails in direct sunlight with no water or shade.Question those at Appelby who do own multiple horses and ask them if they what they are doing.

Deborah Thorne it wasn't lame it was a youngster that didn't like being on the back of a cart like a puppie first on a lead. Don't make out it was being abused like all the other thick hippie fuckers that know jackshit if there was something wrong with it they wouldn't take it down a public street

If Your Equine is an extension of Yourself I feel sorry for it as You are obviously a bigotted, self opinionated, control freak who is just venting Your spleen, and poisonous attitude on people You dont know or even think You know, although You are entitled to Your opinion, no matter how ill informed it is. I have said My piece, no more from Me on this subject, I dont claim to be expert, but I dont inflict a biased opinion, think it thru.

These horses exhibit pain and fear through forced restraints and abuse.The equine patrol people are worthless enforcement s.
