The first time I watched that episode, I didn't get anywhere near the full effect of it, because I was just binge-watching the show from scratch, without knowing anything about the background characters and stuff, so that episode just seemed really odd and forgettable. It wasn't until I started watching reaction videos and learning about all the background character personalities and stuff that it finally started making sense. I now consider that one of the most awesome episodes in the entire series. ^_^

+Christopher Ocampo I did notice that, and mentioned it towards the end of my commentary, which I admit was rather long this time. I think it was fantastic that they managed to write the entire main cast out of an episode, because A) it shows great skill with story writing, and B) it allowed the spotlight to remain focused solely on the CMC, and Apple Bloom especially, and showed that they don't just need to run to family members or other mentors for help all the time. They're maturing, and figuring things out for themselves now, a very important step they needed to take, especially if they end up traveling beyond Ponyville to find other ponies to help out.

Some of the artist ponies were ponified versions of Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, and Andy Warhol. :) Zecora is where Applebloom started her interest in potion-making. They worked to try and come up with a remedy for poison joke and later, Applebloom made a potion which gave her cutie pox.

+Schornforce Ooh, nice catch! I doubt I ever would have noticed it, and even if I suspected, I wouldn't have known the artists being referenced. And yeah, good point on Zecora. That was all ages ago though. The only time in relatively recent past that Apple Bloom was involved with potions was in Twilight Time, under Twilight's guidance, not Zecora's, and even that was back in season 4. I thought it was interesting both that she's still at it, and that she's back at it with Zecora, which means that could become a recurring theme for her character growth, with some potentially interesting results, since Zecora seems to have access to ingredients and recipes that nobody else does.

I think it's one of those things where it's been long enough in between that you kind of start to forget about it, you know? Besides that, with as many things as the CMC have tried and abandoned, it's nice to see Apple Bloom sticking with something. The one thing that actually bothers me about the quest for cutie marks is that learned skills seem to get overshadowed. Obviously we all have our own special talents, and for some, it's much harder to figure out what they are than for others, but you can also become good at a lot of things by working hard to learn the skills, even if it doesn't come as easy as it does with a natural talent. For that reason, I'm glad to see Apple Bloom sticking with the potion making, because I feel like it's more of a learned skill than it is her special talent. It also sounded like she was interested in trying to learn more about dancing. And don't forget that Sweetie Belle has taken up crocheting. I hope she sticks with it, and improves over time, because I think that would make for a great lesson about hard work and perseverance.

+dmclegg66 We haven't seen their parents in ages, and Sweetie Belle seems to live with Rarity full-time now. I mentioned this gripe in my season 6 wish list video. I don't understand why their parents seem to have dumped Sweetie Belle on Rarity while they're off vacationing or whatever. Seems rather irresponsible. That's one reason why I want more details revealed about the Mane 6's families, so we can understand more about these characters.

+Applegeek Oh, almost forgot, I know Sweetie Belle said Rarity would never allow that, but I'm not so sure. Regardless, they could easily travel around Equestria with members of the Mane 6 as chaperones, and still find ponies to help out, so I still believe they're going to end up traveling somewhere in a future episode. Apple Bloom was right in that there are only so many ponies that need cutie mark help in a small town like Ponyville.

+The Dj Muffin It was definitely emotional, but I didn't feel like I was going to cry, personally. This episode was a wild roller coaster, making me swing back and forth between laughing and feeling sad so quickly that I didn't really have time to let the sadness from that song hit me. That said, it was a FANTASTIC song. Quite honestly, I feel like it's pretty much Apple Bloom's equivalent of The Pony I Want to Be for Diamond Tiara. Both were sung immediately following an event that kind of brought their own personal worlds crashing down around them, and dealt with them trying to figure out who they really were and how to move forward.

I'm actually really glad you elaborated a bit on the little lesson Sweetie Belle learned here. Hearing it put like that might have just been the push I needed to get back to writing. I really enjoy it even though I am still pretty much an amateur, but I think being worried too much about quality has been part of why I haven't been doing it for so long. Not to say I shouldn't care about quality but if I just write without sweating too hard about it then I can actually get experience and get better. ^^ So yeah, thanks for that!

Hey, sorry for taking so long to respond, been buried in comments and other things lately. I'm really glad you found encouragement from that. I honestly don't remember what all I said in this particular video, but I can totally relate to that too, in that if I don't think I can do something well, it's not even worth trying. It's a mental hurdle that can be very difficult to overcome, for sure, and I think for some people that will be a constant battle throughout their lives when faced with trying new things. For me at least, I'm glad that I decided to try doing these reactions, because before that, I felt like I was mostly just existing, and now, with the friends I've made and the things I've been able to do and accomplish, I feel like I'm actually starting to live, rather than just exist.

+Apple Bloom I wish this wasn't an Apple Bloom song. Not that it wasn't good or anything. Michelle Creber has really gotten great. But Apple Bloom is SO overrated by the writers. And no, this is not because Apple Bloom is my least favorite CMC. The writers are litterally saying no to one of their own messages. In Rainbow Rocks, Applejack says to Rainbow: "It may have been you who started the band, but its not just YOUR band Rainbow!". This is the exact same thing with Apple Bloom. It may have been her who started the club. But its not just HER club. We haven't gotten a Scootaloo or Sweetie Belle focused episode in ages. The only ones we get is either Apple Bloom focused or focused on all of the CMC. The last Scootaloo or Sweetie Belle episode was over 2 years ago. I haven't even been in this fandom and watched a Scootaloo or Sweetie Belle focused episode just as it came out. (I joined this fandom 2 years ago). The writers really need to make less Apple Bloom episodes and make it more balanced between the CMC. I wish this had been a Scootaloo or Sweetie Belle episode. I would have wanted to hear them sing so much more than Apple Bloom since Michelle Creber is the VA for one of the CMC who has sung the most. (Since Michelle Creber also did Sweetie Belle's singing until season 3). This episode was decent but I really think it could have been better if they had made an episode that was focused on another CMC. It feels like the same over and over again.

There are several episodes in the show that take place in the previous season for no explained reason (I think Seasons 2, 3, and 6 all have at least one of them each).

Pretty much what you said mirrors what I said in my reaction and in my description. Ain't that a coincidence?? Or am I stuck in a parallel dimension where I'm you and you're me? I think "On Your Marks" was a fun episode. Not the best CMC episode, IMO, but it was fun to revisit the ordinary lifestyle of the CMC and how they are going to set up their new arc since they have got their cutie marks now. To me, it feels like an experimental episode, to see where it can go and what direction the episode could lead us to. It feels so good to see the CMC with their cutie marks though and just...staring at their butts most of the time. Somebody will make a PMV out of that. What I REALLY wanted to see after they had their cutie marks is to go on adventures and help other ponies without cutie marks to realize their destiny and their purpose, a young triad of ponies (equivalent to how the Mane 6 go on adventures to spread the magic of friendship) traveling to Los Pegasus to life up someone's stressful journey to find out what his/her purpose is! That would be a really cool start to their new arc! BUT NO! They have to restrict that plot because they're too young to go on adventures yet, despite the fact they wander off alone BEFORE! I really hate that but, I totally understand where their decision lies. Baby steps, after all. Worked for Fluttershy, didn't it? Let's just hope I don't have to wait another 5 seasons so that the CMC can go on adventures already. Also, Bulk Biceps has more dialogue?? Never expected that and I thought he was going to play more in the episode but, he didn't. I thought Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were going to feature more in the episode but, they didn't. I thought the whole episode was focused on a competitive race (kind of like Sisterhooves Social) but, it didn't. Not to say those were disappointing complaints. Feels good to see the writers explore new possibilities with what the CMC should do next, now that their main purpose is complete. Tapping into Applebloom's isolation (the reason why she was in the CMC to begin with) and really delving into her character and how her chemistry shines with other ponies and not when she's by herself. Does kind of say a lot about Applebloom, especially when you consider the lyrics to her solo song (which sounds kind of similar to Coloratura's song, not lyric-wise). We like 4 episodes in and we're gonna have to get more ships into the harbor for these ponies. Oh, well. I'll just have to wait to see how they're going to set this up for the next CMC episode. Hoping next week's episode (which is a Spike episode) has some promise. The premise sounds cool, though! Spike competing in the Gauntlet of Fire! How is that not great for an episode plot!? But I hold back my expectations when it comes to Spike episodes after "Princess Spike" was done being a horrible episode for me. But with that kind of plot, it makes me interested in how they are gonna do this! Action-oriented or just tame slapstick humor?? Could be both! Only one way to find out!

+Zangor warrior Dude, spoilers! Not everybody is aware of the synopsis for upcoming episodes. ;) FWIW, I did know it was going to be a Spike episode, but don't know anything beyond that, nor do I want to. I have high hopes for that episode though, especially given how well Spike has been written in the S5 finale and S6 premiere. He's finally being given some real, visible maturity, so I hope they continue. No more "Spike does something crazy in one episode and then goes back to being the same old Spike" junk we've been getting in the past. Josh Haber is the story editor for all of S6 though, and he likes Spike, so that's encouraging. You know, I did notice what sounded like a bit of melody in AB's song that sounded similar to another song, just haven't taken the time to figure out which one. Probably getting hard for Daniel Ingram not to do something like that, given how many songs he's written. I didn't mind though. I really felt like this song is the same for Apple Bloom as The Pony I Want to Be was for Diamond Tiara. They both suddenly had a curve ball thrown at them that kind of brought their personal worlds crashing down. Diamond Tiara lost her best friend, and the election, and her mom got really mad at her. Apple Bloom thought she lost her closest friends, and suddenly realized she didn't have a clue what she wanted to do in life beyond getting a cutie mark. Following those events, both sung and lamented about their circumstances, trying to figure out who they really were and where they were headed. Awfully deep stuff for such young kids. And MAN is Michelle Creber getting good at singing! FYI, I still fully expect to see the CMC go beyond Ponyville. They were right that there's a very limited demand for cutie mark assistance in Ponyville alone, as it's not very big. They said they wouldn't be allowed to travel around on their own, which is probably accurate, but that doesn't mean they won't tag along somewhere with members of the Mane 6, and be able to find ponies to help along the way. I think the fact that they even touched on the possibility means that it's definitely in the cards to happen at some point. Oh, and I don't think it would have been good to just launch them into an adventure like that in this episode. This was an important transition phase. Having them just instantly launch into such an adventure, like they've been doing it all along, wouldn't have been very believable to me, because as was made painfully clear in CotLM, just because you know your true talent doesn't mean you know how to fully utilize it. They have now discovered their true talent, but needed to figure out how to go about using it to help others. Oh, and btw, it just occurred to me that Tender Taps is actually the first pony they have actually helped to acquire a cutie mark! Troubleshoes and Diamond Tiara already had their marks, but just misunderstood their meaning. Though the Tender Taps arc was very short, it succeeded in establishing that they actually do have the ability to help others find their talents. Can't wait to see what they can pull off in the next episode!

Applegeek Oh, you and I are going to have such interesting conversations every week, aren't we? XD But I do agree. The CMC do have to be held back early on as we're not ready to jump into the adventure yet. I was just too excited that they even hinted at the possibility of outside adventures. The young trio prodigy exceeding in what the Mane 6 does and Twilight can be their mentor...or Luna. Wouldn't that be really cool?? Sorry about the spoilers though. Just read up that it was a Spike episode and immediately groaned as Spike USED to be my favourite character but when I read the premises, HOLY SHIT, it sounds awesome! But I might be setting my expectations too high for next week to build up Spike's character in how well he saved the Crystal Empire...TWICE. Plus, characters need to grow with age as well as how they grow character-wise. And by the time the CMC and Spike will grow up, the sooner the fanarts will come true (if age expectancy ever exists in this show unlike The Simpsons). I commented on the Spike aspect to another reactor and the reactor had an interesting point: "Spike has proven time and time again that as far as supporting characters go, he isn't a bad one. In fact, this premiere proved he was more than capable of supporting without it being to the point of it being annoying. Ultimately when Spike is written as the protagonist of an episode, he comes off as annoying, or stupid or just a dick. He serves his purpose much more effectively as the deuteragonist." Yeah, pretty much MOST of Daniel Ingram's songs do have a certain pattern or formulae to them. Just takes a well-trained ear to find the structures in most of the songs and just make your own dual mix out of it. Speaking of Diamond Tiara, would we ask for a solo Diamond Tiara episode in the future or a solo Scootaloo episode perchance? Would finally get to explain why her parents aren't in the show or...are non-existent in the show. I know, sounds redundant but, you get what I mean! Anyways, see you next week!

+Zangor warrior No worries. I know spoiler slips will happen, no big deal, I just do my best to avoid them. FYI, I have spoken about Spike several times in my past reactions, as well as in my season 6 wish list. Spike is a great support character, and honestly doesn't get enough credit for that role. I'm just tired of seeing Twilight take him for granted, and seeing the writers give him stupid character-focus episodes that make no sense, and ultimately lead to no actual character growth, as he's just the same old Spike again afterwards. Just to quickly summarize on the Spike episodes, I think the issue is that the writers never gave Spike any significant goals to work towards, and thus tried to invent problems for him to overcome, all of which ended rather poorly, probably because they were trying to grow him like a main character instead of a support character. Power Ponies was the best attempt at proper growth in the support character role, but sadly there were no lasting effects of the lessons learned in that episode in the episodes that followed. Josh Haber, in my opinion, is the first one to really do Spike any justice. Spike's performance in the last finale and premiere has been top-notch, and he was great in Friendship Games too for that matter, which was also on Josh Haber. As a result, I really have high hopes for next week's episode. Oh, yes, I really wish we would start seeing actual physical growth of these characters. It kinda bugged me that the Cake babies don't show any growth yet, aside from apparently no longer requiring diapers, which they already didn't way back in The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows. Also, I feel like the CMC should be more like teenagers now, especially with the way the voice actors' voices are changing as they themselves age. It's a sticky issue though, because they have to consider their target audience. Let's just say there's a reason that Ash Ketchum is permanently stuck as a 10-year-old in Pokemon. If he had grown along with the show, he would be around 30 by now, and his character would have completely lost touch with the target audience of the show. Regarding the songs, you should give this remix medley a listen. Scootaloo's parents and alleged disability need to be dealt with once and for all. I don't really care which way it goes at this point, just want the questions to be answereed. Diamond Tiara needs to be given character growth to show she's really turned over a new leaf, just like we needed to see for Starlight Glimmer. I just left another comment on this video where I mentioned a buddy of mine wants to see Diamond Tiara assist the CMC in helping out Pipsqueak with something, perhaps getting his cutie mark. I wondered why Pipsqueak was absent in this episode, especially with all the other cameos, so maybe they're saving him for something special later on.

+Mr. Secret LOL! Yeah, I have musically-sensitive ears, so when I hear stuff out of tune, it's quite painful. I knew the singing wasn't going to go well in that scene, of course, but it ended up much worse than I expected, and instantly reminded me of how bad the Dazzlings' singing was in Rainbow Rocks after their magic gems were destroyed. Oh, and just FYI, I took a closer look at that music, and it's complete gibberish. No defined measures, random key changes, accidentals in random/completely wrong places, and so on. It's basically the equivalent of typing a mish-mash of random words and punctuation marks onto a piece of paper, and then trying to read it like a story. I hope the animators didn't make Daniel Ingram come up with that, because I bet he would have needed therapy after trying to make something so...wrong. XD

I really want the CMC to start working for Luna. What was hold this colt back from his "dream" was his fear, something I'm sure has plague his nightmares. As both things that fall under Luna domain, and as she seem to help young ones (or at lest the CMC) work out some of their problems that give them nightmares in the first place it would give them an 'out of Ponyville' thing without getting into the map. +Hope Bibles You know, I'd actually have to go back and check, regarding her classmates. I don't believe for a second that Pip won't be getting a cutie mark though. Trottingham is just another area of Equestria, like the Crystal Empire, and both crystal ponies (assuming you consider them different from earth ponies) and even zebras get cutie marks, so you'll have a hard time convincing me he won't be getting one himself. ;) Pip appears to be younger than most of the other fillies and colts in the school, so he probably just hasn't gotten his yet. FWIW, I was chatting with a buddy who had the idea that in a future episode, they may continue Diamond Tiara's story by having her assist the CMC in helping Pipsqueak search for his special talent or something. That would make for an awesome comeback for Diamond Tiara!

My theory is that this actually happens during Season 5. Specifically the last couple minutes of Crusaders of the Lost Mark. Think about it, wouldn't it take a few days, at least, for the new equipment to arrive? So Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are making friends and working on clearing the old equipment. The CMC are dealing with their new cutie marks. Then song montage! Edit: I just realized that's kinda impossible because the CMC got their cutie marks after the new equipment was up. Whoops. But I still think it happened soon after that episode rather than after the season finale.

This was the first episode where he actually got the spotlight for a couple minutes, and actually got to speak in a conversational format, as opposed to just yelling out self-motivating one-liners. The combination of his reappearance and character focus is what made it so awesome for me.

+Apple Joy Episodes with the CMC in sync with each other are definitely better, but it was a great character building episode for Apple Bloom, and a good transition phase for their team dynamic and figuring out how to work towards their new destiny. The song was easily the best part of the episode, Apple Bloom's own soul-searching moment, just like Diamond Tiara had back in CotLM.

+Book Lover Thanks! Yeah, I realize it's not a really "great" episode in most people's opinions, and I can understand that. I try to look at it for what it was intended to be, which is a transition episode for the CMC as they figure out how to readjust their goals to align with their new destiny. In that regard, I thought it was written very well. But is it the best CMC episode? Of course not, pretty tough to beat CotLM. I personally consider this episode equal with last week's episode, if not a little better, in terms of overall enjoyment.

Boyfriend for Apple Bloom, no, just no. She's way too young, leave her alone. ;) As the for the equipment, nope, I've compared screen caps from both this episode and CotLM, and they clearly retcon'd the fancy playground equipment. I know On Your Marks had a new storyboard artist, so I'm not sure if it was just a mistake on his part, or if it was intentional, but either way it annoys me that it happened without any explanation. The playground equipment was a key story component of the best CMC episode ever, and shouldn't be so easily dismissed.

Applegeek I know but I just got that feeling. XD I hope they don't go down that route BUT if they do, it'll be a far FAR better start than Twi X Flash (there is no words in any world to detail how forced they were in EG1). Yeah it was their best Ep, I even said it was the best Ep overall..got told no on that. >_> Well maybe it was just an error, I mean as a guy who works in flash 8 himself I know how it works. If we see the playground again and the equipment IS STILL missing, it means either the school couldn't afford it or the animators can't be bothered to add it back. Yeah we had a ENTIRE Ep of RD trying to keep Tank, and he just pops in for a few seconds cameo in S5 Ep13, WITH NO REASON GIVEN! So this isn't the first time we got a episode with something huge, just to have it thrown away without so much of a notice. Tank's return should had at least have an mention, not a cameo that many (myself counted) missed and had to be told about.

Yeah, the fact that they never showed Tank coming out of hibernation is kind of a bummer, given how big of a deal was made about it. Judging by the leaked episode title list for the second half of season 6, it looks like there's another pet episode coming up, which I'm kind of excited about, because it seems like we rarely see the pets.

Applegeek Yeah it was, it was already a huge stretch to begin with as the show skips the seasons by so fast it was all but confirmed that Tank would just randomly pop back up with no mention or even a nod given, it's almost makes you wonder why they even bothered if they knew they weren't going to even show his return. Tho it is a good Ep and in the upcoming pet Ep they meant recon it..but that'll still be a issue as we already saw him in a cameo. I saw a few titles at a forum I'm at, I don't look into them as I hate spoilers. Alho the title to Ep 16..CELESTIA I wished it was Ep 13 instead! DX

+Bill Erak Dragón Dorado Is it the best Polsky episode? Probably. Best episode in MLP? Not even close. But was it terrible? Absolutely not. Regardless of the controversy over episodes he's written, I still say that his CMC episodes were some of the best CMC episodes in the whole series, and for me at least, he did not disappoint with this one either. It was a wonderful transition story, as they are starting to figure out what to do with themselves now that they have their marks. The stage has been set now for future adventures, so I can't wait!

I've got to say, your expectations for the CMC is a little too high my friend. Two things; First off, I think you missed in in both your viewings (or at least didn't acknowledge it) that they pretty much established that they are not going across Equestria to look for Cutie Mark problems, at least not on their own. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see that happen, but you've got to remember; they're still fillies. Grade school fillies at that. And I know we've seen them outside Ponyville at times but that was when they were with an adult. I think the only episode they did go out on their own was "Just for Sidekicks" but they went out in secret and had to hide from the Mane Six so I don't really count that as a recurring event XD Like Sweetie Belle said, "I don't think Rarity would let me travel the far reaches of Equestria looking for Cutie Mark problems." followed immediately by Scootaloo saying that they would come across them [Cutie Mark Problems] in Ponyville. Secondly, I know you were disappointed with the fact that the 'logics' wasn't very well thought out with the fact that some of their school friends don't have cutie marks and they could help them and such, but again you've got to remember; The CMCs' special talent isn't to help others get their cutie marks, that's just a part of it. Their special talents is to help others find who they are inside; to help them realize or rediscover who they are truly meant to be. So of course they would try to find adults to help as well. And the part with the Cake Twins is just a funny gag. Cartoon shows are meant to have that from time to time, don't need to be too harsh or analytical. But that's not the problem here. The true focus of this episode was to emphasize the act of separation and doing things on your own from time to time. Branching out from your friends as you said is a healthy thing. You also said that it was disappointing not seeing enough of Bulk Biceps and Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. And while I agree with you on that front, I'm glad that they didn't get much screen time for this episode. Because they're such well known characters they would take away from the lesson that was being portrayed. I liked how the writers handled this. They introduced us with Bulk Biceps (a character we know well) to hooks us in, then they solved his problem lickety split giving us just enough screen time to keep us happy, this segued to the core problem of the story and then continued on till the end of the episode. Tender Taps was a brilliant addition, in my opinion. He was a blank slate, somepony we didn't know so he didn't steal the spotlight but was just interesting enough to not just dismiss him. Bravo. But I digress, my main point here is to not get too much high expectations, on anything not just the coming CMC episodes...I guess? I kinda went off tangent somewhere in the middle XD But seriously though, real talk, it really bums me out when my favorite reactors seem so disappointed when something they were really expecting doesn't happen that they miss key point within the episode that should have been obvious. And don't be worried I wasn't really talking about you specifically. I just don't want to see you to fall into this category, ya see? +OmegaChimera Wow, that was a lot. Well first of all, thanks for taking the time to let me know your thoughts. This reads as constructive criticism, not just arguing, which I appreciate. You've actually given me a lot to think about here, so let's see if I can address all your points. I apologize in advance for the wall of text. ;) I did catch (the second time at least) what Sweetie Belle said about not being allowed to run around Equestria on her own. I know I didn't comment on that, likely because my brain had already dismissed it as a factor for the larger picture. I felt like that scene was meant to hint at the fact that they WILL be traveling around Equestria at some point, but just not right now, in this episode. Do I believe they will set out entirely on their own, backpacking around Equestria? Absolutely not. They are still just children after all, and require a certain amount of supervision. That said though, I don't feel like they should remain limited to Ponyville, because they are maturing, and their destiny is something that will take them to new heights, and I feel there's only so much they can do in a small town. I can see them tagging along with their big sisters on trips, not necessarily for the purpose of finding ponies to help, but they probably will end up doing so anyway, because they're awesome like that. In fact, that's exactly what already happened in Appleoosa's Most Wanted, so the idea is not without precedent. Also, the overall theme of season 6 is traveling Equestria, so I can't help but think the CMC will get in on that at some point. As for the logic issues, I guess I should apologize a bit for hitting on that point so hard. I'm fully aware that sound logic is not a priority in this show, and often times it's chucked out the window just for the sake of comedy, such as when Apple Bloom and Scootaloo sang that horrible note, and then Apple Bloom went on to sing that beautiful song. My brain is wired for logic, and I often find it difficult to not analyze things like this to death all the time. You're right that the Cake babies were in there just for a gag, and you're also right that looking for adults with identity issues isn't out of line, since that's what they did with Troubleshoes. It still bothers me that they didn't even really touch on their classmates at all, but again, kid's show logic, need to let it go. ^_^ I also agree 100% that it was ultimately good that Bulk Biceps, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon were not kept in the spotlight in this episode. I love getting more out of known background characters that rarely get screen time, and when Bulk appeared, I thought he might be the next version of Troubleshoes, but it didn't really go that way. Instead they introduced Tender Taps as the pony with the real problem, which was also good. He was an interesting character and served his purpose well. As for DT & SS, I guess I set myself up for disappointment on that one because one of my predictions for this episode was that DT might get a chance to reciprocate and help the CMC the way they had helped her. There's still plenty of time for that to happen though, and it was great to at least see that they're making other new friends. Given that, to my surprise (and delight), this turned out to be a heavily Apple Bloom-focused episode, if any of those characters had seen a significant amount of screen time, it would have taken too much away from the focus of the story. Just to clarify, none of my gripes or disappointments detract in any way from my appreciation of this episode. In fact, it bothers me that I've heard so many comments from fans about this episode just being "meh". No, this was not a super awesome adventure episode. Instead, it was a very important character growth episode, for Apple Bloom especially, but also the CMC's team dynamic. If they had just immediately launched into a big adventure to help some other pony, like they knew what they were doing all along, that would have been unrealistic, even for this show. My noted "disappointments" were more about me wanting more out of the show in general, not necessarily this specific episode. And yes, you raise valid points about setting myself up for disappointment. It's entirely possible that the CMC will not, in fact, go beyond Ponyville, which I admit will be disappointing if that happens. At the end of the day, the CMC have a special place in my heart, and I can't help but want to see them do big things, so my expectations will remain high. That said, I will do my best not to let that detract from what they do manage to accomplish where they're at. Oh, and in general, I think I need to stop trying to predict what might happen in future episodes, because that will likely do nothing but cause more disappointment. :D Anyway, thanks again for your constructive feedback.
