She had no idea Starlight was even remotely around, she hoped of course, but that look on her face after, she was shocked to still be alive. She made the decision, either she would die, or some how Starlight would return and be her friend again.

Basically she was to the point where if Starlight had decided not to come back, she had no more desire to live, and decided to just go out with a bang. That's probably about the darkest moment I can recall seeing in this entire series, kinda really surprised they slipped that in.

Was _not_ a fan of Twilight's attitude in this episode, but I can understand that she only wanted to protect Starlight. In any case, I was glad to see Trixie come back. She and Starlight make such adorable friends. =)

+TPrower I'm with you, but I don't think she *only* wanted to protect Starlight. You know Twilight's hero worship of Celestia. She wanted to be sure to make a great impression. I also disliked Princess Celestia's attitude somewhat. I get why she'd be huffy with Twilight there, as Twi was clearly lying and the entire purpose of Celestia's visit wasn't present. But Cranky, Vinyl, and Derpy are still her subjects and she should have been gracious when left alone with them. Still, I guess it's nice she's shown to have flaws.

+Schornforce +TPrower Yeah, I can understand your gripe on this. I even put a note in there about how Trixie was even more humble in this episode than Twilight, at the point Twilight was basically sucking up to Celestia, which btw was the point that annoyed me the most with Twilight in this episode. She is certainly not without fault, but I can still understand the underlying reasons for her concerns. Also, I have very much enjoyed seeing the growth of Twilight's character over the seasons. She is probably one of the most well-developed characters of any of the Mane 6, and continues to show growth. I know I've said this before, but basically seasons 1-3 were about her learning about friendship and achieving the milestone of becoming a princess. Season 4 was about her coming to terms with her unexpected transformation, and trying to figure out what her role would be in Equestria. Season 5 (with what little time she was actually even on camera) showed her finally embracing her new role, and learning the duties of a princess. Now in season 6, she is developing further by taking on an actual mentor role by having Starlight as a pupil, which allows her to both use and pass on the lessons about friendship she's learned, and also still learn new lessons of her own about how to be a good mentor. I find it interesting that we used to joke about the lack of presence of Celestia in Twilight's training, whereas now we are seeing how it was actually a good thing, and Twilight is learning how to take that approach with her own pupil. FWIW, I do kind of wish we would have gotten a bit of sage wisdom for all three of them from Celestia, but at the same time, it was HILARIOUS seeing Celestia there just for comic relief by acting very un-princess-like. XD

+Applegeek People may find it annoying that Twilight basically re-learned what Spike told her at the end of the premiere, but I don't find that a bad thing at all. This episode tested how much freedom Twilight was ready to give Starlight. As we can see, it was just enough for Starlight to go around and make friends on her own terms, but it wasn't enough when Trixie stepped in and threatened to potentially and/or inadvertently steer Starlight in the wrong direction. And while Twilight was right in the end, she admitted it was for the wrong reasons and redeemed herself. This just leaves us with how Twilight and Starlight's episodes will play out.

+binkyboy448 Yeah, I can see how some think it was the same lesson, and to a point it kind of was, but as you already noted, the circumstances in this case were quite different. Back then, it was just a matter of reuniting with an old friend. In this case, it was making friends with somebody who could potentially be a bad influence. I personally think Twilight would've been foolish to not be concerned, but she ended going a bit too far the other way by being a bit too overprotective of Starlight. I don't know that Trixie really steered Starlight in the wrong direction though. The only thing she really did to Starlight is sort of guilt her into helping with the show, which is hardly anything you could consider evil or even mischievous. Really, the only fault I could find with Starlight in this was failing to show Twilight the respect she deserved by not talking to her about wanting to help with Trixie's show. I think if she had, Twilight would have approved, and if not, Celestia might have overridden Twilight anyway in order to teach her a lesson about being a good mentor. Heck, Celestia might have even used the show as an excuse to blow off that horribly boring dinner party. XD

And Twilight has a good reason to not trust Trixie. Even though Trixie apologized last time, she didn't do anything to make up for what she did. As soon as Twilight accepted it, she launched into a boast about how humble she was and ran off in a puff of smoke. Like Applegeek said, she was never really reformed. So between that, Twilight wanting to protect Starlight, and her somewhat neurotic need to impress Celestia, this is all believable behavior for our little alicorn. Not good behavior, but believable and understandable.

+Lunare Crepuscular I would really rather not get into this discussion, because it's an extremely polarizing subject. I will only say that I honestly would prefer that Hasbro not dive into relationships any deeper than they already have, for several reasons. This show is intended to teach lessons about friendship, and I think it should be left at that. If they take it any further, I feel that the show and fandom will be destroyed, because again, it is a highly polarizing subject, and will only distract everyone from the true purpose of the show. Right now they walk a fine line, making it such that you can choose which way you want to read the characters. For example, you can see Lyra and Bon Bon as just best friends and roommates, or something more than that, and either way can make sense. By not crossing that line, they can appeal to a larger audience, and avoid igniting a culture war in the fandom surrounding their largest franchise. Besides, this fandom already has enough infighting as it is, so let's not make it any worse. ;)

+Applegeek Yeah this is definitely one of my new favorite episodes of the season and yes I ship Starlight and Trixie now lol. XD I had seen a promo of this episode where it showed the beginning where Starlight was telling Twilight about meeting a new friend and then it showing Trixie and I'm not going to lie when I saw that I was afraid; because Twilight had already forgiven Trixie in Magic Duel and bringing her back just felt like fan pandering to me. I didn't really like her in Boast Busters; ironically enough not because she was boastful just because she lied about the defeating the Ursa Major but then Magic Duel came around and I found her a lot more interesting; and while I didn't become as huge a fan as many others did when it concerned her I think this episode really made me love her even more. I just felt really bad for her. And I think the writer did a great job as to bringing her back and why they brought her back. So yeah a great episode overall and great reaction! Can't wait for more. XD

+Book Lover Boast Busters by itself wasn't too bad, except for the fact that they left things unresolved with her character, and then didn't bring her back for another two seasons. I think I heard somewhere that she was actually supposed to come back in season 2, but then somehow that story got pushed back. Anyway, I liked the story of Magic Duel, better than Boast Busters, but they still failed to properly close the book on her character redemption. As I noted, her apology in Magic Duel felt more incident-based, and not really an indicator of true repentance in general. As such, I had convinced myself that she was going to be the same old Trixie at least at the beginning of this episode. I was certainly wrong, and couldn't be happier about that fact, because this is the Trixie I've been waiting to see all along. I feel like her story is finally complete now. I kind of have my doubts we'll see her again, at least as a character of focus, but we'll just have to wait and see. Oh, and yes, I'm sure Trixlight, or whatever the new fan name is, is running wild right now. I certainly like them together as friends, but nothing more. And that's all I will say on the subject. ;)

Applegeek I really don't like Boast Busters and hated how Spike and the girls treated Trixie in Boast Busters; while I didn't like her character she's a magician! Magicians are meant to be boastful! Spike and the girls didn't seem to understand that. I just didn't like how Trixie lied about defeating the Ursa Major. Magic Duel made me find her a lot more interesting and I really liked her after that. I love Magic Duel a lot more then Boast Busters. And hey don't worry I can understand only wanting them as friends. While I do ship them now (I mean come on they are way too perfect for each other!) I really do like them as friends. They're great as friends too. XD

If that had happened, and Celestia had been dancing along, I think I would have fallen out of my chair laughing!

On the other hand, Gilda was first season in S01 E05, and then finally appeared again in the middle of season 5, so you never know when they might bring back old characters again. The one I'm really waiting to see again is Lightning Dust.

Vinyl's name was first mentioned in a Equestria Girls song ad, it was before the film and S2. Look it up. EDIT:Who else sees a Dragon Ball in Trixie's poster? I liked this Ep, tho more on a second viewing when I heard Trixie say "Wait no--sorry, I was caught in the moment there.." I can see why some hated this Ep, but it is pretty good. Why exactly does this ruin Trixie's character? I don't see it. Also I heard some say Fluttershy was just scared "of what the Manticore was gonna do" Aka eating Trixie, wanna know why I refuse that? SHE WAS SCARED AS TRIXIE SHOWED IT! If she was scared of the act, she wouldn't be blocking her eyes until it started! Canon error whether you like it or not.

Starlight doesn't really... "bake" the cake. I've seen a lot of comments about how great a baker she must be but she really _doesn't_ bake it, she just kind of... *magics* it... into existence. Like a low level transmogriphication spell, as she seemed to use several physical objects to aid the spell, rather than only one.

I guess the "Setting Sail" clips, in the previous episode, were fine as they were, since they were meant to imply how those two characters would become a guaranteed shipping pair no doubt. Still, at the same time the clips were kind of long, I think a meme picture with "I ship it" blended in, or a gif of sorts, would have sufficed. Perhaps a shorter version of those clips would have been okay.

+Applegeek oh yeah. that bit aside, this episode was pretty nice, if not tamer than what I was expecting. sure, I saw the moral/friendship lesson in this episode coming, but for some reason, I was imagining it being a bit more chaotic, maybe not to the levels of "Best Night Ever" or "Make New friends But keep Discord", but considering it's Trixie, I was expecting something going wrong at the dinner. still, it got the message across nicely and had some interesting character development in it too (plus the stinger at the end is hilarious--for some reason, I imagined this wasn't the first time it happened to Celestia, judging by the expressions on her face)

+Webs SOTE Hmm, I see your point, and I was expecting that as well to be honest, but I thought it was a refreshing change of pace to see Trixie actually trying to turn over a new leaf. Based on how things were left in Magic Duel, I didn't think she'd be that far along in the process. But in terms of drama, don't forget that Trixie basically just about committed suicide with that cannon trick. REALLY surprised they slipped that in, because that was a really dark moment, brief as it was. She clearly desperately needed a friend at that point, and Twilight almost screwed up really bad by trying to get between her and Starlight.

BTW you talking about Rarity opening her 3rd boutique at that point reminded me of something. My theory: In EQG, ponies that travel to that portal into the other world, or were affected by a spell created by Starswirl (for example the Sirens) turn into the physical mirror version of themselves in that other world (universe). I just realized this again because there is no way that a ... senior highschool Rarity would be able to own 3 boutiques, but the pony version does. Thus, every pony version of the mane 6 in equestria are clearly just about or over 20 years old in season 1. By the point of season 7, I would consider them about 22-23 (+ - 1) years old. That's the only way I would considere EQG canon to the series. But besides showing the sirens in season 7, who could have ended up god knows where, there hasn't been a confirmation of EQG being series canon. I like to devide EQG and MLP Series into 2 different 'alternate universes' The series universe, that only includes the series. And the EQG universe, that includes the series and the mirror world. Hence, why P.Twilight came back through the mirror in the Friendship Games after battling Starlight.

Of course, Trixie didn't help her case by engaging in stage banter all the time. Maybe she meant she couldn't have done it as a performance, in an entertaining way. She could pull off the technical magic, but not the showmanship. Personally I would have preferred if Trixie had done it like real stage magic, tricks and sleight of hand. Using real magic seems to take away the whole point.

+Mr. Chaos You know, I also find it tempting to fall into the trap of comparing myself to other reacters to gauge how well I'm doing. Believe me, it's difficult not to do. Try not to think of it as better or worse, but rather just different styles. I have a fairly short list of other reacters I watch, partly because I find myself comparing myself to others too much. That said, if you think you can improve your own reactions by taking things you see others doing and adapting them to your own style, I would say there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't try to become "just like" somebody else, because you're not somebody else, you're you. I hope you get what I'm trying to say. :) Oh, and yeah, I found those audio tracks from bgmsound.com. I never saw Trixie as being evil, even in Boast Busters. She was arrogant and ego driven, but many performers are, and she certainly couldn't handle hecklers, but she never seemed "bad". Even when the Ursa Minor came into town and everyone else was running away, she tried to fight it knowing full well she had no chance. I always liked her as I thought her character was flexible enough she could have gone in so many different ways(many explored in fanfiction). I was a bit disappointed when she came back in magic dual and she just became an insane dictator. It just seemed like a waste of potential. I'm really glad she's become a recurring pony and has more character depth.

+The Silicon Brony The moment with the cannon was indeed rather dark. It looks like it caught a lot of people in the fandom by surprise. I decided not to dwell on it too much in my commentary though, because like you, I didn't want to read too much into it, and cast too much negativity on what was otherwise a fantastic episode. It's made for some rather interesting discussion in the comments though. Oh, and I know I wouldn't mind hearing a bit more "rambling" from others, especially if you cut to re-watch first. One can only say so much during the initial reaction, after all. ^_^ As for subs, thanks in advance for whatever you have in mind. My sub count was a mere 400 the moment I published my S6 premiere reaction, so I'm quite happy with the progress so far. About your comment on the video clips you edited into your last reaction video: I found that really funny, the edits have just been too long. I don't know how long they have been each but around 1-2 seconds would have been enough to get the joke. You made it sound as if it was really stupid, but only the duration made it kinda stupid. I liked the idea. Kind of a mix between a "Let's Watch" and an analysis. Reminded me of "ILoveKimPossibleAlot" with her references to everything and editing style. That was my first comment on a MLP video ever I think, you got me there ;-).

+gawag Thanks for the feedback, and welcome to the comments. ^_^ Yeah, they were definitely too long, even though I actually had already cut them down quite a bit. It was something I decided to try to do at the last minute, and I didn't take enough time to think it through and do it right. Probably would've been better to both make them shorter, and do them as overlay clips on the bottom part of the screen, perhaps with text notes, rather than interrupting the actual reaction. Oh well, live and learn. If I ever get the idea to pop in a reference clip of any kind again, I will do it different somehow. In the mean time, people seem to like the text notes I add, so at least I've got that going for me. :D

I actually do think Trixie might be coming back. I have this theory that all the friends Starlight made this season, Sunburst, Spike, and Trixie, she'll probably be making more friends, and perhaps in the finale, the villains that could come back might be too much for the Mane Six to handle alone; therefore, Starlight and her friends have to help out.

don´t worry about what they say, the whole ship clip gag you had last episode was amazing, and I dont get what´s so wrong about expresing your ships I mean there are other blind reactors whose name is their favorite ship (RarityDash) so dont worry about them. Also these episode WOW it was really close to being really dark with the whole Trixie basically deciding to suicide on stage after losing her one friend, just wow. Though the chimera was bowing when everyone started stomping their hooves so im not so sure if he was "acting" viscious for the sake of the show or what.

Another great reaction & commentary, Sir. I agree there was fault on all sides, and I kinda wish Twilight gave a bigger apology to Trixie. It seemed a little rushed at the end but that's me nitpicking. I do think Trixie was maybe attempting suicide with that Manticore trick because she knew she couldn't survive it without Starlight and she didn't have to do the trick at all. When you put some of the things in the episode together, like how she was still haunted by her past and how she had just lost her one and only friend right before her performance and was really heartbroken over it, I kind of think the writers were subtly implying that Trixie got in that dark place afterwards. She was depressed and it looks like she was just prepared to give up on everything, so I think that's a fair conclusion to draw,espcially because of how realistic it is. I admit, I was confused about Fluttershy being scared of the Manticore too considering she was the only one who was not afraid of it in the season 1 premiere, but again, I'm nitpicking. On a side note, I kinda don't like how they keep referring to Starlight as evil. She wasn't evil. She was an extremest and idealist, yes, but I wouldn't say she was evil because she truly believed what she was doing was for the best (everypony should be equal so no one would feel inferior) and wasn't just power-hungry, you know? Misconstrued & warped-thinking from built up resentment. I really hope the show stops referring to her as evil. Also, I don't think you need to be so hard on yourself about the ships jokes from your Gauntlet of Fire reaction. I got it. But I understand you're wanting to stay away from the topic because of how explosive it is. Btw, I think Spike & Ember make a cute ship as well. (^w^)

+XyKP1fan The subject of Starlight being evil is kind of a tricky one. Do I think she was anywhere near the level of evil as Sombra, Chrysalis, or Tirek? No, of course not. That said, in the season 5 finale, she clearly kind of went off the deep end a bit. She let herself be consumed by jealousy and the desire for revenge, and it seemed like she would stop at practically nothing to accomplish her goal. If Twilight hadn't managed to get her to reveal her backstory and talk her down, she would have succeeded in destroying the future of Equestria. Of course, I do realize she never intended to do that either, and didn't realize that's what was happening, so that's why it's a tricky topic. But even going back to the season 5 premiere, even if she was just misguided, taking cutie marks by force was wrong. She was saying one thing and doing another, so she knew full well it was wrong, and just didn't care. In the end, I would say that Starlight was never pure evil, like somebody like Tirek is, but she was about the most evil a pony could be in terms of someone who was hurt badly, felt like they were backed into a corner, and lashing out in response, and of course she had the magical power to make it count. Regardless of her reasoning, she was doing bad things, and knew it, and just didn't care. Now that she DOES care, and wants to make things right, Twilight is trying her best to help her recover. And no, Twilight probably didn't extend the level of trust she should have, but then again, this is the first time where Starlight had a chance to prove that she wasn't going to slip back to her old ways under the influence of somebody else with past misdeeds, so I can understand Twilight's concern. Also, Trixie's encounters with Twilight seemed to be on a more personal level than that of Starlight's, so it was likely harder for Twilight to truly forgive and forget when it came to Trixie. Also, Trixie hadn't stuck around, but had run off again after Magic Duel, and Twilight wasn't even a princess back then, so Twilight had never had a chance to mentor her, nor did she have any idea what Trixie had been up to for the past three years (seasons), so I can understand the suspicion. In the end, like I said, fault on all sides here. If they had all just say down and had a good long discussion, none of the conflict in this episode probably would have happened. But then we wouldn't have had such a great episode to watch. XD Even in our own lives, it's easy to look back and say, boy if I had just done this or that differently, it probably would've gone a whole lot better for me. We need to remember that life just happens sometimes, and our thoughts and emotions play a significant role in how we view things and act out. Yes, we end up learning things the hard way sometimes, but there are times that it's better that we do, because the lessons learned have a much more lasting impact that way. I think all three of these characters had a moment of learning something the hard way in this episode, and I believe they're all now the better for it. I really can't wait to see what lesson Starlight ends up having to learn next! :D

I can see what you're saying about Starlight. I definitely agree she was wrong and very methodical in how she went about taking cutie marks and inadvertently destroying Equestria because of her resentment. So she's probably the most dangerous antagonists Twilight has ever faced, (or Equestria as well. We don't know how many threats Celestia & Luna had to faced that were as dangerous aside from Discord thus far), but again, I don't think she was evil and malevolent like say Tirek was, you know? Dangerous by far, but I don't think she was inherently evil and trying to cause harm to others. That being said, I fully agree with everything else you said. Maybe because they keep bringing it up a lot so far this season they might expound on that more! Neverthless Starlight is an interesting character to explore. (^w^) Keep up the awesome work, Sir!
