Applegeek Well, they might be, but still, this is some serious spooky stuff right here, like some kind of a Jungian collective consciousness or echoes from a parallel dimensions (Equestria? :D), because what are the odds that a certain musical motif reappears throughout 200 years of the history of music so often and in so precise form? :P And how does it fit the idea of copyright and "intellectual property"? Can we really still say that Hasbro "owns" this theme? (you know, prior art & stuff).

Some people have said, there's no such thing as original thought anymore. Most anything that's created now is either inspired by something else (either directly or subconsciously), or is coincidentally similar to something else due to a dwindling amount of possible variations. When it comes to music, there are only so many ways to put notes together in ways that sound good, so it's not at all surprising to hear chord progressions or even simple melodies that sound similar, if not identical to prior art. Just look at how many songs out there follow the famous chord progression from Pachelbel's Canon in D. Oh, and I know for a fact that some rock music from the 60's was based directly on pieces of classical music. Also, I couldn't even begin to cite song names or artists, but there's been tons of times where I've heard parts of a melody in one song that sound nearly identical to some other, completely unrelated song from another artist. So yeah, this isn't really surprising, but it's just funny to see all these similar (and likely coincidental) melodies all be compiled in these videos like this.

When you do it, it's "stealing" :P BTW do you know the "Generation B" font used by Hasbro for all their MLP:FiM-related stuff and how they were sending their C&Ds to different fans who were using that font, which resulted in making a replacement font, "Celestia Medium Redux", by the fans?
