I just hate it when people over obsessed just because of a few seconds lag to load something or intentionally say that the old devices have old hardware and proclaim that it MUST be slow! Seriously, he just says that,"Oh see that just really looks so slow!",It's just only a few seconds, what speed are you trying to achieve here? Even if the 4S is out dated, you don't have to say that EVERYTHING seems slow Just because of loading stuff takes like 5 seconds!

It's not even lag time that makes this outdated. The fact that it is HSPA+ for data on GSM, and 3G for CDMA makes this a dinosaur. Let's not forget most modern apps are not going to run on this after iOS 11 hits the market.

Honestly, I miss my 4s, it was comfy to hold, it had an amazing design, and very durable. I lost grip of it on a treadmill, twice. Both times it slammed into the wall behind me, the second time I stepped on it as well. Not a scratch.

Yeah, its just a question if your mobile phone still works well with your life, if youre someone who barely uses a smartphone for data and memory-hungry apps, and just use it for calls, texts, chat and social media, older iphones can still work for you, but if youre a tech savvy person then youre attached to the two-year cycle of iphones.

i agree, perhaps iOS 11 will be the last update for the iphone 5, which makes it useable and optimized for 2 more years, while iphone 5s might have longer useability, since apple equipped it with a 64 bit architecture, it is future proofed til the 64 bits are all phased out and iphone 7 still works on a 64 bit architecture and so are future iphones for the next year or two.

Beltontx101 I think that if you own a IPhone 4S there's not much you can rebuy from older iphones if you buy them every 5 years anyways. And you get a brand new low end Android phone which will guarantee to be 2-3 years supported by android indeed which won't make the software slower by every update (which will happen to IPhone after 3+ years.) Unless you really like a slow unsupported phone then okay the iPhone 4s is something for you. If you want a medium fast phone go for android but if you're really that broke then "an easy interface" should be your main concern anyways.

100% true i had iphone 5 for 4,5 years and i would still use it but my mother made a contract with a new phone so i got the 6S and gave her my iphone 5. After deleting everything on my 5 it runs even better :) It can easily last for many more years and its a great phone if the small screen doesnt bother you.

I always complain to my mom about how slow it is and crappy and how everyone else I know has iPhone 6's and 7's but she doesn't understand and it's so frustrating!!! Use a 4S everyday, have done so since purchase. Think it is a great device and the compact size is what keeps it as my loyal companion - easy in the jeans pocket, out the pocket. I use my phone as a phone, notepad, audio recorder and camera mostly, anything bigger or longer like a vid on youtube and I'd rather kick back at a computer with a 13"+ screen rather than go for a middle ground 5"+ screen but thats just personal opinion. Definitely still worth having in 2017. Nice vid, very enjoyable!

One point here, 4S with a 480p has amazing quality, even if it's just 480, so, they made it smaller, lower resolution, but yet good picture, and, by that, a slower GPU is needed, slower GPU means less battery drain... and Apple countinues to do like that, unlike fucking samsung, putting a ton size big display, but, they put a weak GPU (as usual) and the simplest game lags, but hey, you atleast got your 1080p display... do you get the point?

To be fair, I was using an IPhone 4... not the s just a few months ago. It was surprisingly snappy for its age. Bar the restrictions of not being able to open certain apps I.E. Facebook. The phone was a pleasant experience. Nothing compared to the iPad Air 2 or S8 + but still. Surprisingly pretty good and provides a stable experience.

If it wasnt for planned obsoletion from Apple, this phone would have still been a good choice in 2017. Man do I remember the app-ass my 4s kicked with the ios 6. I barely got through 70% of the battery from whole day of use and it didnt get hot at ALL. I nonstop played need for speed and I finished it on my phone without worrying about anything. Smooth, snappy, FAST, and cool. I had memories with it, friendships broken and relationships made with the 4s. Now it barely gets through an hour of use and its laggy as hell. Its saddening, and Apple's restriction of features and internet downloading made go towards the s8. I love my current phone, but my 4s was probably my favourite. It will be missed.

I'm still using my 4s 64gb since 2012. Never dropped it or anything. Although the back panel has a gap near the camera lens.. I can fit a peace of paper between the back panel and the metal frame. But it doesn't really bothers me they only problem is the battery, it's horrible. It dies so fast after charging it to 100% five minute of using it's already died down to 90% so yeah it sucks. Further all some apps crashes down and the phone stucks at some points. But it still works though. I did several hard resets but it just stays the same. Also the phone is getting very heated up that i could bake an egg on it lol. But i will upgrade to a new iPhone when it's completely dead. Still rockin' the 4s yes in 2017! Don't judge me😉

I have a iphone 4s, and use it every day. Because the modern phones are to big. Yes, it is slow, but after a few tuning settings, it worked well again. Last year i still had ios 7.1.2 , but could not find software for it.

Noah R I had iphone 5 for 4,5 years and i would still use it but my mother made a contract with a new phone so i got the 6S and gave her my iphone 5. After deleting everything on my 5 it runs even better. It can easily last for many more years. It just gets a bit laggy after a few years which is normal.

I'm still using a 4s telephone. I prefer the 4s over my wife's iPhone despite it being older. because it is smaller. A smaller phone is always better in my opinion. The only reason I started using an iPhone is that the battery in my Motorola flip phone wouldn't hold a charge for very long. So I started using my wife's old iPhone. But I use my phone as a phone. For music, I use my hi-fi or my iPod. For watching videos, reading, and games, I use my computer or my iPad. For pictures, I use my Nikon. The only app I ever use on my telephone is Speak & Translate by Apalon. And that is not very often.

The iPhone 6 6s 6plus 7 plus 8 8plus and x are all crap, how do I know? I know because they are all expensive and all apple did was add things they could of added to the first iPhone they created also the new phones are so big and you can't even hold it, iPhone 8plus has glass both sides like iPhone x. If you have got the iPhone 8plus or x then well done, you have just paid extra money so that when you drop it you will crack both sides and you will have to pay double to fix both sides (sarcastic clap) good job XD

If you're turning off background app refresh altogether on your phone, you might as well not use the phone at all. That's like having to constantly open your messenger apps to check if there's new chats. Granted it probably makes the phone run smoother, but that is one of the most important settings in iOS.

Thank you. Very good - and useful info. My old Iphone 4s still runs pretty fast actually. I use it as a spare camera and video recorder which does a great job in 1920 x 1080 HD. The biggest drawback with this iPhone is, you cannot installed the latest apps.

The iPhone 4s is a pretty good phone I would use it as a backup phone and use it just to take pictures and maybe some calls. Overall, it's a pretty good for light use, and I would recommend buying it if you absolutely need a phone and use the phone for some exceptions
