I so enjoy your videos. I had a good chuckle when you cat sat in the basket of apples! Something my Louie would do. Lol. It gives pause to remember, give thanks for all we are given by Mother Earth, the plants, trees, bees etc. and the fruits of our labors. I appreciate your reminders to be grateful to all living things. Our plant friends who share their abundance with us. Bless you Terri. Thank you Loll for the music and cinematography. Lovely. And to the animal friends who lighten and brighten our lives.❤❤. I do look forward to your weekly videos. Bless you and your gardens

Thank you So much Terri! That was so enjoyable, I'll watch it again, especially the mischievous play between the cat and dog.😀 It also reminded me of sitting around the table with family peeling, coring and slicing apples. The slices went into pies and those to the freezer and the remainder to a big pot for jelly. It was quite a production! By the end of the day, there was at least 6 pies put up and a counter full of jars of jelly. 🙂 I'm kind of at the same place with my grapevine. A couple of fenceposts need to be replaced where it grows. I'm going have to cut it back severely to get that done. Until then, mom and I have been picking some every day. They make such a wonderful juice, it doesn't make it to jelly.☺️ Love and blessings! 💜

I never did anything with crabapples because the only thing I knew to do with them was jelly which has a lot of sugar. This past fall, I found a recipe to pickle the crabapples. This winter I made a dipping sauce for my spring rolls by soaking 6 to 8 dates, pitting them, add some of the pickled crabapples and blended that all together and it is delicious. Last time I made this, I added a spoonful of peanut butter and it was wonderful. I love your videos, very inspiring.

Outstanding, always such good tips💯❤️ I just read a article in Modern Farmer, The stink about human fertilizer👍. It looks like bio waste is working good for you ‼️ I am a urban farmer/wild edibles forager/MG, Million Gardens Movement and I always appreciate your high quality content👍✌️Thanks, your garden is a absolute gold mine❤️💯🍀

Hello Favor - thanks for watching. I will check out the MGM as I would love to forage more. Fair play to you for urban farming.

First of all, tell Lol the music was really nice in this video, he's very talented! Terri we now have space enough to plant apples and we own our house, where before we rented. What this means is my dream of having apple trees can come true! Trouble is as I look at the many varieties and how you need two or more of certain types together for pollination, I get overwhelmed and now I don't know what to get! I know some are self pollinating and that I guess I need to have a phone chat with some of the companies selling trees. How many apple trees do you have and is the crab apple the pollinator for the tree you showed us?

I have one crab apple that flowers and two that are too young (apparently), although one has made a couple of flowers. The others are eating and dessert apples, all different varieties. The man at Irish Seed Savers where I bought the trees asked to know all about our local environment and climate and the micro climate where the trees were going to be planted so that he could work out which variety would suit us best. We are so close to the sea and have a lot of salt wind. I think if you give your information to your tree company they will be able to advise you. Happy planting!

After very late frosts that almost decimated the wine and fruit harvests, it has been a year of phenomenal growth ,sans humanure ,which I'm sure exacerbated things :) Can you recommend a book on Irish Folk tales please
@DanusIrishHerbGarden
@DanusIrishHerbGarden 3 жыл бұрын
Phenomenal growth is right! As for books, some of mine are from the turn of the last century when members of the Gaelic League were turning them out - Laurence Ginnell and Eugene O'Curry to mention a couple. I like the Geddes and Grouet "Celtice Mythology and T.W Rolleston - "Myths and Legends" then there is a lot of stuff by Lady Gregory - to get you started!!

HI Terri! Another great video. Are you able, or do you store apples for eating? Wondering if you have root cellar for storage. I always enjoy your videos

We don't have root cellars here - would be a great idea. We store them in a dark, cool shed but usually they get used - eating and juicing and pies.😅

Where were the white flowers? The manure is humanure from our compost toilet.

That humanure certainly seems to be doing the trick!I always thought u were supposes to fertilize food crops w/ vegan's poo, like from rabbits, horses, cows etc, & use any other poo for fertilizing non edible plants. The white flowers were at 4:59 in the apple video.💜thank u
