On my 2008 Panasonic NN-SD697S, I'm getting repeated burn marks in spots where the door makes contact with the oven. After sanding then leveling out the burn depressions with auto body filler, I refinished the interior with special cavity paint, flat black high temperature on the door and new wave guide cover yet the issue persists. Any idea what's going on? Thank you!

You should consider changing the title of the video to "How to REPLACE a Magnetron in Your Microwave." Clearly you are not showing how one could possibly repair the Magnetron, so the current title is misleading.

Most magnetrons have beryllium oxide (its the pink part) which is category 1 carcinogenic. I would not recommend messing with it. Just replace it. It’s not worth the risk.

Hello, when finding a compatible magnetron aside from the mounting configuration can I use any magnetron that is at least the wattage of the original? Is the wattage just the maximum it can be driven at? Are all other specs the same, it looks like they all run at the same frequency etc.. EG. for my magnetron which is 900w can I replace with a 1000w magnetron as that is a lot cheaper.. The size and mounting are the same? I believe the capacitor is dictating the output wattage.. Cheers

Could you please tell me what could have happened to my microwave? Yesterday I put the food in the microwave to heat it up and I heard a big explosion inside. The clock and everything else works (there's a light) but the food stayed cold, it didn't heat up and since then it's been very loud when I turn it back on. This is above my stove, not a tabletop microwave.

What about inverter microwave. How often does inverter control board go bad?
@TheNYgolfer10 ай бұрын
That's an impossible question to answer. Too many variables, such as how often do you use it? How long do you run it when you do use it ( the longer the greater chance of issues). How often does your electricity go out or surge? One power surge can fry a new electronic device no matter how young it is. Manufacturer's only care that the appliance lasts just beyond the maximum warranty that they offer. After that, they want it to break so that they can sell you overpriced parts or their repair service at ridiculous prices. Keeping that in mind, it should last 5 years barring overuse or power surge issues. Many manufacturers offer extended warranties up to 5 years total. Some go to 10 but after 5 you get the part but pay for labor, which is ridiculously overpriced.

I have a 1979 Sears Kenmore 564-9918010 microwave oven. Well, I replaced the original Sanyo 2M140/MG500JN magnetron with a Sanyo 2M140/MG500H which I had recently purchased from eBay. Anyways, I not only had to switch the base plates (required drilling out the 4 mounting rivets, and installing 4 new rivets), but I also had to turn the electrical connector on the eBay magnetron 90 degrees in order to install the eBay magnetron. Well, the eBay magnetron does heat the foods, but it does require more time than the original magnetron. Being that the microwave oven is so old, I'm thinking that the eBay magnetron simply has low emission. Any thoughts? Oh yes, I'm using two 0.55uF 2300V capacitors in series since the old capacitor bank went shot some time ago. With the new capacitor setup, the magnetron should cook like before,, but the defrost time will take somewhat longer. You see, the old capacitor bank was simply not available.

hello.. what if one of the magnets is just loose and spins? they are not cracked. the 15a 120v fuse keeps overheating and then blowing. a person can get about 15 to even 20 mins of use. the fuse element slowly discolors (over heats) then finally blows. no smells, no sparks, nothing seen as a problem. trans/cap/diode/ safety fuses/micro switches etc are all good. only thing left (to us) is the loose magnet issue on the magnatron is causing slightly to much current to be pulled. the magnatron tests good out of oven. thanks for the vid and any answer you can supply.

I just fixed my microwave oven today. It suddenly had stopped heating and the normal hum (when the magnetron is operating) was also gone. Everything else was normal. The problem was a "stuck" relay on the circuit board. This relay switches on and off the 110 Vac to the high voltage transformer input. So no power was getting to the magnetron because the relay was not switching. I almost ordered a new relay but decided to try a trick. I whacked the relay plastic case with the handle of a screwdriver a few times and bingo, the relay came back to life and my microwave is back in service. I just wanted to mention the faulty relay because this video did not mention it at all.

I think the 'tapping' helps break up oxidation or corrosion or ??? crud ation on the two electrodes - might even be smart - (a bit stoner) - to use some oscillation device - like long thin plastic tube / rod attached to a dremel spinning at high RPM - and just let it rest on the relay box and vibrate the crap out of it whilst it is running - otherwise this condition won't be fixed - I just thought of this right now and I have a furnace relay that is gonna get this treatment - be safe - just tapping it probably dislodges a crust of crud but I could picture ultrasonics vibrating the electrodes to brand new yet never opening that little plastic case to get inside - food for thought anyway

Hi Trenn from Australia, Just wondering if you could provide some guidance, my Mom is 83 and cant really afford a new Convection Micro so I thought I'd have a quick look. Took the and cover off, and I understand you comment in the video of the capacitor retaining charge so carefully removed the ceramic fuse. I replaced it and also the globe just incase the globe had gone short. I tested the convection element 40ohms so not short but isn't used in the micro mode. I turned it on and things light up. Then went to heat a small glass of water as a test and fuse blew. I have previously had a microwave where the magnetron failed to heat but fuse didn't blow. Can you please suggest what else it might be?

Sir If I may ask, I have no heating with an additional hum that came with the no heating. The hum is very distinctive. As a first timer to attempt microwave repair could that be and indication or symptom of one of the specific components you have mentioned being faulty , also there is the electrical burning smell.
