Applied Behavior Analysis Explained

She is correct. People, until the late 1990s, practiced a similar, yet difference science, called Behavior Modification. Behavior Mod only used consequences of reinforcement and punishment to change behavior without addressing the antecedent stimuli. Despite this, ABA has been researched since the 1960s. Antecedents are stimuli that cause behavior to occur. This is the philosophy behind Behavior Analysis - to analyze and evaluate behavior, and in doing so, teaching replacement behaviors (in addition to, of course, consequences - usually reinforcement). Applied means it has been taken to a variety of settings, i.e., drug abuse and smoking cessation (contingency management), eating and feeding disorders (acceptance and commitment therapy), organizational behavior management, applied animal behavior, schoolwide positive behavior support (SWPBS), and early intensive behavioral intervention (treatment for autism), etc.

Should this therapy be one to one? Each child has a differant disabilty. How can a school district do it in a group??? Makes no sense!!!!!

The explanation in this video did not explain anything well at all. Also, many people on the spectrum actually reject this type of therapy.
