Apply T-Shirt Texture in Photoshop

You have another tutorial that’s a couple years older, different method to achieve the same result. You Command click on the texture layer, then select the folder containing your artwork and go to Layer > Mask > From Transparency. Seems like it does the same thing? Any Pros & Cons to either method?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I follow your instructions exactly it just turns the screen black, turns my whole design black. I don't understand. Id ont have a bunch of fx layers, just on picture that I selected and masked from another picture. It's a wooden heart. I just drug it over to my merch template and then tried what you have here. If you see this maybe you can help. IDK
