APPLYING A ROOF COATING TO A SKOOLIE - Short Bus Conversion Build

I'm enjoying this build, Isaac, and am learning something new almost every episode. I am in the process of building my first skoolie, as I've said before, and I am taking considerably longer than I originally had planned but it will be good. I ordered the Henry's for the roof, and it should be here tomorrow; hopefully, I will be ready to do the roof the week after next. I also am doing window deletes on the back two windows on each side of my 4-window shorty but am doing them differently than I've seen before. There is a metal fabricating shop about 20 miles or so from me that can do bead-rolling work in order to stiffen the panels (and it will also give them visual impact), which I plan on riveting to the outside of the window frames. Taking a play from your bag of tricks, thanks to your dad, I am using an automotive seam sealer between the new panels and the original metal. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product. Keep rollin'!

I have always preferred the GoPro footage just because of the image stabilisation. It is also noticeable that because it weighs less, you can hold it farther away from you with less 'tremor' so you get a better depth of field than if you use the heavier camera. For people like me who get headaches watching jerky movements, it's a no brainer- tripod shots=big camera, hand held = Go Pro. I have to say Isaac, though I know you like doing bus tours of other peoples' busses, and it slows down the build process having to set up the cameras etc, the bus build videos are hands down my favourite. I can't wait until Jaylena gets back into build videos. Her style is what keeps me fascinated. She does a lot of fixed position tripod shoots which just seems to add to the overall calmness, and makes it easier to concentrate on what she is saying. you both are totally watchable but you do have different styles, which is a great thing when you are trying to maximise an audience. loving the roof finish. If I ever get a bus I am gonna use that rhino stuff Chrome Valdez has on his van.

Looking great Isaac, even over spilt paint you're not alone, I did that with the KILZ 3 primer and almost lost near half the gallon😜 looking forward to see more, and hopefully your GoPro will work better for you too. Anyway, quick question...can that same roof paint be used on a fiberglass topper, it's originally white, but like to refurbish with good paint that can be safely used on the fiberglass topper and certain for keeping it easily clean without damaging the new paint?

brother, go out to the home depot and get yourself one of those giant air pusher fans either the Maxx air or the Lasko pro performance pivoting fan, you won't be sorry, now solve your bad luck with painting roofs and spilling paint by going out and getting a Little Giant Ladders - Plastic Fuel Tank Paint Bucket Paint Cup for Ladders, you will never drop a pan filled with paint from a ladder again, $29.99 at lowes, the go pro worked out perfect and did have a good picture

How is that paint holding up over time? Debating on the elastomeric paint vs and oil based/rustoleum. I live in the desert and am worried about the elasto paint peeling or fading. Have you had any issues?

Nah honestly it was the about the same. The big diff is you have to go to an automotive supply to get it.

Isaac, check out KZbin channel Travel Beans, they just stayed in an extremely long air b & b skoolie in England. They were here in the states living van life and on the first test trip they lost it to a fire that totally destroyed it. They had to go back to England as they lost everything they owned. They have decided they would like to get a smaller skoolie and will be heading back here to the states. You have to see the bus they stayed in. They posted it 2 days ago. I also told them to check you out as well.
