Applying High Build Primer on the ‘67 Mustang “Flip” Project

Here's a nice little shot of the high build primer getting laid down on the 1967 Mustang flip project. This is the first coat of 3, after the car has been sanded and all the metal repair has already been done. This car will be getting a high gloss black 2 stage paint job, so the body needs to be absolutely perfect to not show any imperfections in the lines.

I spray my high build with low pressure lets it build up more for you to block and youre not wasting so much material just my opinion give a try and see how it works for you

A few questions...How many coats do you spray? After block sanding with guide coat, do i spray anything else or start spraying paint?(after cleaning of course). Im researching to do my own car but the options are endless!!

@@jerrycordova1971 so i do epoxy primer first after i strip the paint off sanding or chemical. Then i do the boday work where needed. After that i do the g2 featherfill high build primer and i do 3 coats no sanding between then i guide coat and block that down with either 220 or 320 then after blocking i wet sand with 400 then i seal coat it. After the sealcoat your ready for paint if your going over it after the recomended time before coating.

Why does my harbor freight dun spray it down in a circle with the texture of bed liner? Using speedkote 4:1 high build and I have messed with the gun setting in every way ran it at just above 30 psi

Happened to me too. Pretty sure you have to use a bigger needle size atleast 1.7

1.7 is good but also mess with your fan and speed

This is an old comment but your fan must of been closed all the way. You can adjust it to a straight circle spray or adjust to a wider spray pattern. For bed liner you do want a concentrated spray to get a thicker layer

For a car you want almost 30k for I would expect a full strip to bare metal and professional body work and paint. Only a fool would pay that kind of $ for a maaco style paint over the old paint type of job. SMH.

@@ClassicNation The greedy shops charge that or more in my area too! We painted a 1965 land rover for another shop that he said he just sold for 90k. We charged him 5k for the painting and bodywork part of the job!
