Silly question, but why is it called "milk" paint?

It's called milk paint because milk is a primary ingredient used in making the paint. Curdled milk is the "binder" that keeps the pigments and other ingredients together. HTH.

Alain Menard the binder is casein a milk protein. Same thing that makes glue and cheese.
