Really the only sport where you can apply it is mma. It's allowed in some of bjj rule sets but most of major organizations like IBJJF banned it similarly to judo and wrestling. My wrestling couch taught me a legal variation where you use the arm you used to control ukes wrist to underhook their ankle instead of stepping behind. I love the fact that you keep the tradition alive by teaching and practicing all those techniques like kani basami, hiza juji gatame and all the leg grabs. They're slowly getting forgetten in judo. Also congratulations to your son even though this video is almost a year old. Great achievement and great channel!

Well done sensei. I believe your video of the KB is way safer from judo's perspective. Oss.

Question please. It seems like that’s the type of variation of Kani Basami (KB) seen in videos that damages opponents legs. I know the traditional variation may not lend itself to a knee bar however, my question is, is the traditional version of KB where you put your leg behind both of Uke’s legs safer on the execution, minimizing the potential knee or ankle damage? Just thought I’d ask you since I was taught the traditional version and I do like it. Thank you 🙏 for your time, I love your content!

This version is a lot safer, than the traditional way it's taught. Watch the video again. In the beginning he explains why.

one of the ways of escaping a single leg (in wrestling) includes "stuffing" the head down while turning (completely) around and "running away" until the leg is out....I say this because I wonder if that same "head stuff" (or pushing the head towards the ground) could be utilized in this move (a slight alteration in movement from what you are showing) could be used...thanks again! Uss!

Sorry second question, can that no-gi arm drag and trap tie be used to pull into a sukui nage?

I have studied a bit of the history of Judo and noticed that pre 1908 (before judo became an olympic sport) there were throws that would translate into leg locks. Interesting how sambo includes leg locks (it's, russian, creator learned in Japan).

This movement is so dangerous nobody should ever try it. The injuries that may come from receiving this technique are catastrohic and life changing.

No. No. No. No. You don't need to train it. It is a perfect counter to the traditional single leg. Why not show some single leg tweaks to expose yourself less to getting your knee blown from a kani basami ?
