As someone who doesn’t have the resources to go through all of this trial and error, thank you SO much for this walk through and for providing what you’ve learned!

Amazing work, I never worked with clay before beyond a middle school level, however, I love all kinds of practical science and have worked a few un-related jobs which really ended up having plenty of technique / knowledge-sets in common. Some of which were refrigeration, auto mechanic, computer systems from several angles... I'll get to my point, have you ever experimented with a vacuum chamber? They can do some cool things, they drop the temperature of the material slightly by evaporating the water more quickly than air drying, thus slowing penetration where temperature is a factor, they can cause it to foam up some substances by boiling the water out if you pull a strong enough vacuum, they can totally ruin things... just putting that out there 🙂, and they can potentially, just maybe, buy you time before your core piece self-destructs due to unwanted absorption. My thought is that after you spray the wet slip onto the dry pieces, you can put it in a vacuum chamber for 30 minutes or so and dry it out without it cracking because your not evaporating the water with heat or dry air, your boiling it out without heating the piece by dropping the pressure. You could build an acrylic vacuum chamber with the side being the open part just like your spray booth, then you wouldn't have to move your piece, just put the side on and engage the vacuum pump. You could experiment with all sorts of crazy ideas, you could mix slip with saw dust and vacuum it down in a VC then fire it, I don't know what this would accomplish but I'd love to see it on KZbin, maybe I just invented a way to create lighter bricks? hah! Anyway your creativity just inspired me to go on a thinking rampage... I hope my thoughts benefit your craft in some way, thanks for the great videos!

Fascinating and great work on the video. I love how you approach all of it with an attitude of learning, experimenting. Maybe put up a banner or signin the background showing your web site and if you want people to come by, show your physical address. A great job very interesting.

I haven’t 3d printed clay yet, though I do have a printer on the way. But in the past I’ve always let my pieces dry completely, then scrubbed with a wet sponge. If there’s still any lumps I sand after bisque firing.

Wow! What incredible designs! Does the printer print slip molds or does it print the actual piece using clay?

I saw the pics of the large piece crumbling after you sprayed it on instagram and holy shit that must've been frustrating... But yeah, really cool to watch this more indepth talk of your process. Well done with the editing on this btw, was a very smooth watch for me!

@@HammerlyCeramics Sounds like a plan! I'm sure the next attempt will be more successfull! Also for some feedback on the video itself, on a rewatch I kinda wished you used more of the camera angle from around 3:37 on the other sections where you worked directly on the pieces. Mostly because the regular angle sometimes has the camera focus bouncing from you and the piece (you can see this around 6:28 ish). Its not terribly distracting or anything, just feels better to me when I'm trying to focus on what you're doing. But thats about the only thing I can think of in terms of improvements. o/

Instead of adding slip, have you tried sanding the dried surfaces?

Hello! Could you please tell how to make a plain straight structure out of 3D clay printed structure? By hand? How long should it dry before making it by hand?

Nice work! Just checking your videos and 2020 chat. You indicate you had a longer backlog? I hope the youtube gods didn't hit an be ruining things. Love that you are using 3d printing as a tool, things are looking great! I hope you are still able to access your gear and continue on
