Hi Imogen! Great video! I'm also planning to apply to international universities, so it'd be really helpful if you could share how you did all your research related to this. And how/where did you find the relevant statistics, like the number of students going for a Master's degree in the UK and the Netherlands?

Hi! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I used this website for a lot of my information: www.studyinholland.co.uk/ I don't know if this website also exists for other countries but I found by Googling a lot I was able to find out most information. I also used The Student Room (www.thestudentroom.co.uk/) because there was a thread for people also applying to the same university as me on the forum there. I hope that helps and if I think of any other useful websites I'll send you another message! :)

Hey! I've seriously thought about applying to uni in the Netherlands. Just like yours was, Leiden is one of my options, but so is Maasthricht. When should I start my applications if I want to start in september 2022? I'm from Finland. I know it might be quite early, but I've been trying to find information of when the admissions open. But without success. I seem to get different information no matter where I go. So when did you start doing your applications, what were the deadline/deadlines, and were you also going to start your studying in september? I'm sorry that there are so many questions!🙈 But I would very much appreciate if you could please share your information with me.
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 3 жыл бұрын
For Sep 2022, you can start applying in like October 2021 but the deadline normally isn't till April/ May time of the year you're wanting to start so 2022. I started my application in November time the year before I wanted to go as I was also doing my UK applications at the same time! No problem at all, hope that helps Emni!!

My son will start political science at the university of Amsterdam next year. I hope you will be allowed into the country because of COVID19. UK is still on "orange". I also hope Brexit will not interfere. Non-EU country students pay a lot more, and traveling to and from the UK will be with visa only (hopefully only 1 visa per year?).
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 4 жыл бұрын
I know Brexit really has caused a whole load of issues for students wanting to study elsewhere in Europe! Unfortunately, I won't be going to university in the Netherlands and I explain more about why in my next video. However, after studying in the UK I am still keen to explore the possibility of a Masters in the Netherlands! I hope your son enjoys his first year at UvA - the political science course is a fantastic there! :)

very useful video. thank you so much. I was on studielink earlier and apparently had no idea what I was doing and I realized I sent an enrollment request to one of the universities I was looking at. however, there was almost no application, like I just pressed "confirm" and that was it. in this video you talked about motivational letters etc. and now I'm freaking out cause it didn't ask me any of that. the portal literally let me send my application with just my name and stuff like that on it. I'm so confused. is it supposed to be like that?
@ImogenWhite
@ImogenWhite 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a motivational letter is for Numerus Fixus courses only. All other course just need you to get the grades.

@@ImogenWhite thank you so much for the help. i hate to bother you even further but i do have another question. IELTS is quite expensive and i would be taking it for the sole purpose of getting into uni. but do i have to send it in when i apply or can i just wait to see if i actually get in (on a conditional offer, in that case) and then take the exam and hope for the best? cause i wouldn’t want to do it and then i don’t get in and it’s just wasted money.

But how does it work if you study outside of the UK in terms of payment? The course fees in the UK aren't 'debt' and hardly anyone actually pays their student loans off.
@ImogenWhite

You will have to pay the student loan abroad, I don't know about the student finance available abroad but it's definitely not like the UK system where you get a student loan and try and pay it off over a number of years.
