Applying Urushi Lacquer to Kanna Ban Base

The process for applying cashew lacquer similar to the traditional Japanese urushi to a cedar base for my large kanna ban, which is a large flat ground lapping plate used to flatten the backs of chisels and plane blades.
Includes a discussion of the materials needed, and walk through of sanding the base, applying sanding sealer, applying cashew urushi lacquer, and final assembly.

Cashew lacquer is not urushi I think.

It's made from the shells of cashew nuts. However, it's a synthetic product.
