😊 Your videos are awesome! I also have built this model before, circa 1994... I love the thought of you being able to review your own work in the years to come, and observing your progress with assembly. 🙃 Dont worry about it to much, you will definitely find YOUR groove to this! I will suggest some "brush" techniques... do some research on painting miniatures (e.g. Warhammer)... Base coating with air, and washing on high and low lights is absolutely magical. Keep up the great work, its always cool to see a newcomer in the hobby! --> New Subscriber 💯

Thank you very much. I appreciate your thoughts! And I've already collected a few miniature stl's for a resin printer I've got my eye on.

The problem I keep running into is a small decal that needs to confirm to curved surface. It's a 90° bend downwards (the thruster decals on the saucer section of the starship Enterprise 1701 - A). The decals are these little yellow triangles and they are rigid enough to stay in their natural flat state. I can't get them to conform to the curve and end up just painting those areas. Another problem spot for me are the phaser bumps. The decals for those areas are tiny rectangles but the model has two little bumps that keep the decal from adhering properly. After a few applications of micro sol, the decals always rip and just 6 more spots I end up painting (or I file the bumps flat). The model is in the 1/1000 scale and I just can't seem to get the decals on properly. I have attempted 3 different models with the same results every time.

Forgive me, but it sounds like, in this case, the decals are defective or old, or both. If I might make a couple of suggestions. The first one is theoretical at best, but you might consider trying to wet the decal with the straight setting solution. I've not tried this myself, but it might soften it up enough to take the curve. The second suggestion is to scan the decal on the highest quality settings and reprint them on a new decal sheet. Good luck in either case and if you figure it out let us know. Thanks for sharing!!
