Underrated episode of BTAS. You got the heart racing soundtrack, Batman saving the Crime Alley residents who were deemed as liability in Throne's eyes, and the final seconds of the episode when Batman lay his flowers to the site of his parents murder while Leslie hugged him and show a picture of her hugging Bruce as child can make anybody shred a tear even hardcore Batman fans who grew up watching this as kids. It's a social commentary of greedy big corporations want to destroy a neighborhood instead try to help solve the problem in that neighborhood and understand the residents needs. I wish Leslie was in TNBA because she understands Bruce more than anyone besides Alfred, Barbara and Dick and probably loosened his newly edgey mood in the series

looking back now really helps me realize that Doc Thompson was like a surrogate mother for Bruce, kinda sad that they burned that bridge in Gotham, turning her into an anti-heroine of sorts, and not being involved in Bruce's childhood. but maybe that was for the best, for Alfred and Bruce in Gotham very much have a parent and child kind of relationship, which Doc Thompson may have complicated if she was thrown in.

Man, this is an episode I wish I saw during my first exposure to BtAS. It has mature storytelling, relevant stakes, a memorable theme, and the debut of one of the most interesting side characters in Batman lore. There's no better way to make Roland Daggett, someone who invented a chemical that turned a famous actor into a criminal addict and eventually mutated him into a monster, even more of an evil scumbag than to havw him hire an expert arsonist to blow up an impoverished neighborhood. The only flaw with "Appointment in Crime Alley" is there should've been a scene where Bruce removed his mask when he's alone with Leslie Thompkins to show his vulnerable, human side.

I have to say, I feel like they did Thompkins dirty in Gotham, turning her into a mob boss, temporarily insane, marrying a mobster, going through an offscreen miscarriage. She was supposed to be one of the paragons of Gotham in Batman's life next to Alfred or Gordon. I guess they wanted to develop her more, but it always felt like she was a victim of other peoples choices rather than someone struggling to do right in a crazy world.

This episode felt very real about meeting someone who helps the situation from the hero's problems and goes saving the neighborhood while Daggett plans to demolish the ghetto with poor people. I really stand out this episode and it's a must see because watching Batman trust with his old psychiatrist friend and trying hard to save people and then our son of a bitch Daggett destroys the town without no saving it and wins for his own company which he turn out to be a money grabbing jerk after Clayfave episodes. Its a bittersweet, emotional, and watching Batman and Leslie comforts for having a ceremony for parent's death was a sad and kindly episode and putting at the end with the old image was superior and very importantance.
