Thanks for making this video! Wow! It is great to know Grant's belt and Lee's sash still exist and are held for safe-keeping in the museum at West Point. The Civil War Trust is AWESOME!

Gary, did you know that Patrick Herny's Grandson carried a Confederate flag at Gettysburg for more than one mile?

For awhile as a med student I volunteered at a rehab/shelter and spent a lot of time with many of the men and women there. At one point I met an older guy who had been addicted to heroin and alcohol for most of his adult life. His name was Joshua, but everybody called him John. Me and John talked quite a bit, he was one of those not so rare street people who happens to be highly intelligent, and intellectual. He had gotten himself sober and was trying to get things together, as I helped, meaning he needed an I.D, a job, clothing, etc. We started with the I.D and I asked John his last name ..... "Chamberlain," he told me. The short of it is that my friend was the direct great great grandson of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. Because of this I was able to secure him some extra help from people in Maine. This was nearly 30 years ago, and he has since died, but I can say that he stayed sober and lived his last years in Portland Maine, proud to be Joshua Wyllys Chamberlain

I notice he said “ supposedly” worn by General Lee. That doesn’t sound very assuring to me

As a 10 yr old I took a picture while standing outside Gen. Lee's home by one of the white collums . ( when you are outside I was at the last collum on the left side) After the film was developed you could see a tall figure all black, wearing a cap & carrying a musket. The all black figure didn't seem to 'see' me. I wish I had that pic now I would give it to you.
