Approach and Landing on Beautiful Akureyri runway 19 (AEY BIAR) with Oceanic clearance to Iceland.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did during this flight!
Each year there are some interesting flights which we fly for Voigt Travel. One of them being to Iceland and in particular to Akureyri. I have made a vlog about it a couple of years ago, but then the weather wasn't as beautiful as it during this approach.
Black and white, old volcano's, mountains... a destination I definitely would like to visit for a longer time. (Now only visited the airport for 50 minutes).
This vlog starts with requesting for an oceanic clearance. We have to do this about 20 minutes before the boundary. We do this via a vhf datalink. I thought it to be interesting to show how this goes.
Furthermore I would like to thank everybody for their support and comments!

Dit is wel een hele mooie, compliment 😂 daar kan ik niet aan tippen. Prachtige beelden nu nog een cam op de vleugel dan is het nog scherper, tot 250 KMH gaat dat prima met een gopro! Direct Tower op FL100 zie 04:41 ?

I flew into Akureyri a few years back. It was without a doubt the most turbulent bumpy flight id ever been on. Akureyri itself was fantastic loved the xmas shop and church.

Coming from Iceland, I live in a town called Husavik, some 50km east of Akureyri and a frequent flier from Akureyri Airport. It´s a beautiful approach and very scenic in good conditions. This airport is notoriously hazardous in strong winter weathers and sudden downdrafts caused by these mountains, mainly from approach from the south. I´ve been in very strong turbulence in old Fokker 50 planes and Jetstream 32 planes landing there and that is a RIDE :D When was this taken? I would guess during early spring (march/april) guessing by the snow?

Despite you have missed the fissure eruption at (Grindavik) Reykjanes Peninsula. Saw an upload from Icelandair at Twitter/X while approaching KEF ... This video was the smooth edition according the other upload. (WX related) Volcanoes Geysers moonlandscape Polar days and nights Iceland has a lot to offer. Prachtig die dunne laag van wolken. Alsof je onder een dome vliegt. Gaaf die oceanic clearence! Wat bedoel je met ‘4600 haalt ie ook..naar 42’ ik snap het de hoogte is, maar ‘haalt ie ook’ wat ik niet snap. Machtig mooi einde op de hand … keep them coming Michael in 2024! Fijne dagen!

Bedankt voor je reactie en support! Ik had het hier inderdaad over de vlieghoogte. Er zijn meerder hoogtes die bij verschillende punten gehaald dienen te worden. Sommige punten liggen ook erg dicht bij elkaar... als hij de ene haalt... haalt hij ook de volgende en kan je een lagere hoogte in je altitude window zetten. We controleren op die manier de computer en of we de juiste modi geselecteerd hebben.

Gooie morge Micheal, Dankejewel vor dese vlog. It is stunning & Iceland is on my bucket list. Furthermore it is a new destination for the company i work for(Easyjet) in operations so i know the restrictions as we class it as a Cat C airfield.
