My leopard gecko is the best she is really good about being held and we just got her 2 days ago. She hasn't bitten and is really adventurous! I'm just worried if I keep her out to long she might get sick from the temperature change from our living room compared to her tank! I need feed back please. We hold her for a good 15-20 minutes a day! We just love holding her!

Leos get heat from their bellies so if your geckos belly doesnt feel too warm then put it back in its tank on its heat mat. To be honest, 15-20 minutes is perfect for Leos.

My baby leopard geckos just let me REALLY handle them for the first time. I had held them both two or three times but never really handled them. Today I got them both to climb on my hand and up my arm. One of them even sat on my shoulder. I was so happy. It was the closest I'd ever been to him (I say that because he was right by my head and I could even smell his scent)

It took my baby leos 68 days to trust me enough to let me really handle them. Today is day 69, they climbed up my arm, and one even sat on my shoulder. All geckos are different. One learned quicker than the other.

i'm still pretty new to my own geckos, but these vids have helped soooo much! one question! does anyone else's gecko NOT stop for drops? i have mine walk over my desk when i'm working, but i need to watch them so closely, because they literally do not care they'll fall when walking over the edge i mean, they'll slow down, squat, then proceed to try and slide down the edge of the table. silly beans.... (i make sure to never ever let them fall, but they WILL slide down (i had to catch them a couple times before i learned to watch them more closely)

jjust for some additional info dubia roach can be bought as small nymphs that are perfect size also they dont bite they cant climb smooth surfaces and need to be at a temperature of around 83-85 f ,, they also dont bite gecko or yourself and cant survive if they are out of the tub you keep them in, research them on YT they great :-)

Every once in a while put your hand in gently for them to sniff. Then work your way up to petting them or stroking them and you will earn their trust. That's what I did with my baby leos I got 68 days ago, and today one climbed up my arm and sat on my shoulder. I'd say my method works. Remember trust is the most important thing with handling.

I know this probably gets asked a lot. I got my first Leopard Gecko last week and he is very young and I can tell he hasn't been handled much. Whenever I go near him he hisses and tries to bite me so I haven't been trying to handle him much at all. I was wondering if I should put off taming and handling him until he is older? If so how much older? I just don't want to stress him out and make handling a negative experience for him :/

I had my royal Python on my sofa I turned around to get the TV remote as was just sitting with him turned back round and he was 1/2 way under the sofa and because of his scales I couldn't get him out without a load coming up so I had to flip my sofa over because he managed to get into the main sofa never turn away.... :cD

Do you have any videos on starting to pick up baby geckos? I got my Cookie from Petco and she gets very excited when she sees me(probably because of feeding) but she will literally run to the edge of the tank and lick her lips and wait for me to feed her. Sometimes when im on the computer she will stare at me for hours. Now she did let me stroke her on the head but I really don't want to freak her out. How would you suggest me going about handling her for the first time? Should I put my hand infront of her and let her walk onto me or should I attempt to scoop her up? Hi -- first, thanks for creating this channel -- has been very helpful for me as a new gecko owner. I have a question about scent -- I have been washing my hands before touching my new baby leopard gecko as suggested by many sites and this video. However, I suspect that the resulting scent from the soap (I imagine even scentless soap would have some odor for a leopard gecko) is discouraging him from being in contact with my hand. Although he is still young and spent the first few months of his life in PETCO (so, understandably he is wary of people), he will be intrigued by my hand at times and will come over to taste it, after which he seems repulsed and usually walks away back to his favorite spot. Do you have any suggestions about how to physically interact with the gecko while maintaining proper sanitation while retaining an attractive or neutral scent?

Have you ever let your geckos climb onto your hand on their own terms? I rather doing that since it isn't forcing them out and it's a good thing to do in the taming process. One of mine often climb right on. I know it partly depends on personality, though.

My new baby gecko (I've had her for like 3 weeks almost) has gotten to the point where she confidently accepts food from my fingers and when they're on my palm, but today I removed her hide and tried picking her up and she freaked out and hissed at me, started biting. I just got my 1st baby leopard gecko (Joker) from a place called underground reptiles. I did my research on them before I got it but I was a little unsure about some of the things I was watching on KZbin. I jus have to say your awesome your videos are so helpful i will definitely subscribe. But now for the big question my baby leopard gecko is about 2 1/2 inches long with its tail. I was wondering how do I handle him because he is very finicky and likes to run and jump right out of my hand and I don't want him to get hurt. You may have answered my question already in your video. If you did I'm sorry lol you can just tell me to watch the video again 😊. He is so small and i just want him to feel safe with me. ben soto hi there, thank you :D , well i got Ziggy when she was 3 weeks old, so i know what you mean about being tiny. I would scoop her up under her belly using my finger because she was so small. I'd keep putting one hand infront of the other and gradually slow down your pace, and usually the gecko starts to slow down. Once it finds a hot spot it sometimes settles. It's difficult to explain by typing. I wish I had an untame gecko so I could show you what i mean :')

Only females about the same size can be kept together. Even then, they may still fight and they don't benefit each other whatsoever so it's best to keep them alone

Question: Will a geckos mood change? Lately, when I put my hand in my gecko's tank, he doesn't get nervous and will casually walk onto it. This last time, I tried putting my hand in the tank, and he snapped at me. I don't know if it was because excited or his mood had changed or he was just eating or I was wearing at that time. #Leopard Gecko - I have a juvenile Leopard Gecko who is growing up and I haven't a clue what sex it is, but it's a very placid and laid back creature. I hope it's a male since I named him Alpha. But he has never ever been aggressive but shows no signs of wanting to get to know me even though I first announce myself to him and he recognizes my voice. Then I very slowly and quietly remove the top screen and place my hand palm facing up. Very rarely he will come over to lick it but only just climbs over my hand and I am not able to remove him properly without possibily scaring him. And I'm also extremely concerned about my guy. He's had this habit since I've had him for several months but he'll stay hidden in his warm hidey all day and night for days straight. He's gone thru sheds I believe. Gone from gray to his yellow and spotted colors again. Now he's refusing to eat. I'm so worried. I never had this much trouble when I had a Bearded Dragon years ago and I was told taking care of a Leo was easier. I could use some help and advice please. Your channel has helped me immensely and guided me to help me keep Alpha alive this long despite my mistakes here and there. I do TONS of research the moment I notice anything amis with my Leo. And I did research on them and their care before I bought him too. But I am at a loss here. Thank you #Leopard Gecko. I subbed to your channel right after I watched you for my first time. I swear your Geckos smile whenever they see you. Malts my heart the love all of you share.

I too just adopted 3 geckos. One of them is smaller then the other two the best thing to do is to start early on taming your gecko like first off everyday for 5 minutes just set your hand in his/her tank don't try and pick him/her up just let it crawl over you and get used to you I have had mine for about 3 weeks now and I am still letting them get used to me it's all just patience :)

Put your hand in without forcing her out or taking out hides. It'll take patience. She'll eventually realize she's safe and become curious enough to climb on. Handfeeding may help. Good luck!

Great video . Is a tub that has the floor space of a 30 gallon to big for 1 leopard gecko and in another tub I want to get a african fat tail . Also how many crickets and dubia roaches should I feed a juvenile to adult like 5 every day or 2 for a juvenile and for a adult like 8 every 2 day ? I'm probably way off

Hey, well their vivs are 2ft by 1 1/2 ft, so i think 30 gallons will be plenty of room. They need mainly floor space :) I've never actually fed my geckos dubia roaches, i've noticed they have started appearing in my local pet shop. As for leopard geckos and crickets i usually feed 0-6months daily, then 6-12 months every other day, so mon, wed, fri, sun, and so on. and then 12+ every 3 - 5 days. and I usually feed them 5-8 crickets per feeding. :)

Well when i got my first gecko, i let her settle in for a day, and started interacting the next day, not picking up straight away but interacting. When it came to getting my last gecko, ziggy, i held her everyday! Theres a vid of when i got her, at 3 weeks old, and i was so sure she was going to scream at me or something, but she was super tame! :')

did you use hot water when making it up? and yes, it can take a few days, I find if you put it in the warm place to dry out, before adding it in, it shouldnt take too much longer til its ready.
