Straight from Cape Town, Josh Emanuel joins us to answer your questions on approaching takeoff!
In this episode, we break down bar and body position approaching takeoff, and how to handle extra power for maximum jump height. @7:33 thank soooo much for that tip. I was always wondering about the right timing between edging and sending the kite. This describes my problem exactly. I'm able to ride with a lot of speed and power but when it comes to takeoff I often feel that I can't edge harder. But this should do the trick ;)

Great video,, in Ep3 The pro tip was to sit at the last minute before takeoff,, the exact opposite as you guys suggest

Good catch! Your body will definitely lower toward the water as you lean in to your harness and build tension. The key point we tried to make is if you simply focus on lowering your butt, it might cause your harness to ride up. So instead think about leaning into your harness as you edge. Hope that helps!

Learning to jump. Once in a while I do everything right and I jump a lot higher than I anticipate. Kind of get a little freaked out. What would be the safest place to keep the kite until I get used to more air? Should I just leave it at 12 and it will float me down to a gentle landing, and then after time start working on sending the kite down to be able to ride out of the landing? If I could get used to landing nice and easy when I get more height I'll get the confidence to deal with these higher jumps.

dpwild328 hey man im at the exact same stage. In lighter winds i feel comfortable to jump but when the winds are on the stronger side sometimes I boost higher than expected. It is a freaky feeling but in another year it will feel normal to get ripped off the water

dpwild328 as soon as you sheet out the bar, you gonna drop, then one meter above the water sheet in en send your kite to left or right, iff you keep it on 12 your kite is gonna crash because you will swing under it

It's simple actually, upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0 and there you go...
