Another great video an, as always!!!! I've had the same problem with peninsulas. THE WAY i got around it was to leave two or three grid sauares between the backdrops. Gives you enough space totreat each side of the backdrop as an exterior wall. Also makes it easier to deal with terrain height differences.

+Jacob Oliver Great idea! I'll have to remember that one for the next model railroad series I do

No prob man!! Also gives you a place to hide portals.

I just love your instructional video mate - You hold my interest right to the end. Have you thought of using the short 'Portal Basic' which can be easily buried much deeper and tucked away under other buildings, car-parks, etc,... or even camouflaged between two backdrops and using an engine shed or something similar for an entry point. Also if you are having problems bringing terrain up to track levels particularly when one track leads downwards and the other upwards but they are close together, then try using spline retaining walls. There are some good ones on the DLS. Keep up the great work, Cheers, Roy3b3

Thanks! That's great to hear! I tried using a few different portals but in the end it my decision to nix the portal was also due to complications that will arise when it generates trains. I'll get into it in the next episode but basically when the portal is generating a train the train AI will not kick in until after the train is fully generated. So if there was a long train coming from that portal, even if there was a red signal at the junction, the train would end up running it until the back end of the train finished being emitted from the portal. The best work around would be either to somehow extend the tail track under ground to a staging area further away or to use the portal only to consume trains. I figured it would be best to just 86 it altogether and run the UP trains through Needles.

I' m a bit curious, in trainz a new era for me when I put any roads down, no cars pop up, and I've checked and it says that traffic spawning on the roads is on, but no cars come up. If anyone can explain how to fix this if it can be fixed or not, it would be appreciated!

Looking outstanding man. I'm with you on the ability to key in rotation/height values. Trying to get exactly 90 or any degree/height is a PIA.

What do people use to represent under layout staging like you see at clubs or home layouts. I seen them on screenshots of routes from the forums. They look like black wall and airport runway splines. I know it's probably on there, but I have no idea what it would be titled as. Thanks for the help!!

+Jacob Oliver Jointed Rail has a few assets for this. I can't remember the names offhand but it would be fascia and benchwork assets. I'll be adding those here once I get most of the track and scenery assets placed.

Not a problem. Btw, I'm @NLGrizFan on twitter just so you're aware of who you're talking to lol. But if you have any questions on coal mines as well, I worked at a few open pit mines in Montana and Wyoming. Your mine that you have laid out is a bit funky. Where you have your trucks under the silo in fact is a flood loader. There's flood loading videos on KZbin. The closest I could find to flood loading in Trainz is using the TRS tipple inside of the silo at the Graywolf mine. You've gotta hide the tipple intake tho otherwise it just hangs out there and looks awkward. But since I'm extremely late on gettin to you with this info I wouldn't blame you for not changing it Haha
@ApproachMedium8 жыл бұрын
Good to know who you are on Twitter. There's a good chance I'll end up forgetting tho since so many people go by so many alias's. I'll make a note of it in my notebook tho ;-) Good to know about the mine stuff. Like I said, I don't know how a lot of these things actually operate, I'm just trying to make it all look good and functional. I'll also make a note of it in my book and maybe one day I'll get around to fixing the layout. Until then it'll probably stay as is since such a small fraction of those either watching or playing will ever know something isn't right. But all good stuff to know so I don't make that mistake again in the future.
@wyonatenowinmt59998 жыл бұрын
I'm not tryin to call ya out on it or anything like that and from what I've seen your route looks top notch!! When I'm building mine I pay attention to detail the same way you do but eventually I'll get so many assets globbed into one area and my frame rates hit the dirt. It looks like massive slack action when a train rolls thru lol :/. So I end up deleting things that are basically overkill like lots of animated people walking or a beach filled with a couple hundred people and the people had to get there somehow so there a few hundred vehicles in the parking lot... You know where I'm going with that haha

As a tip for the bridges, have the bridge start right at the edge of the abutment.
@mongoose99018 жыл бұрын
Push the plant back toward the end of the track just a little but first put down 4 truck trailers between the track and the silo make sure the trailers are touching each other and touch the ballast on one side and the building on the other and the will give you enough room for 2 trucks to pass each other.

While you are building, what do you keep in mind to keep the frame rates from diving. Do you consider that while you are working in surveryer?
@ApproachMedium8 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't think about it too much. I do my best not to over do it with grasses and reeds because they can tank even the best graphics cards. But other then that most of the content made for TANE and TMR is pretty good when it comes to LOD and graphics card loads. My technique is to do the most detailing closest to the tracks since that's where the user will be spending the most time, then use less and less detail as I work away from the rails.
