I'd suggest using open-top hoppers if you can find some, the closed ones are usually for finer aggregates like sand, frac sand, or cement.

Awesome...moving in to Phase II. Love what you're doing and really like the track detail...making them look old and used. So much to comment on, but that was one of my favorite things Joe. Keep up the great work!

Are you sure that those ponds aren't old pits that have filled up with rain water over the years. That's pretty common in here in Britain.
@tristschannel56117 жыл бұрын
Another great video! By the way, would you ever consider doing a video on how to create DEM maps for Trainz similar to the one you're using for the Maine Central series? I've looked online for written tutorials and videos but have come up a little fuzzy...

Awesome video AM! I hope you can set Something up with Bill M! That would be a highlight of the series! Just a note about the ponds you were seeing on Google Earth...they're probably sedimentation ponds. The EPA and state water agencies don't like any sediments discharged into local streams and rivers. The water from the mines and quarries has to be captured and the sediment allowed to settle out before they can discharge it.

Im trying to build my own route. But after doing the first tile square its so exhausting. And theres so much i want to do but i seem to burn out. And i see the way you do your builds and im wondering if you have any tips
@loganbaileysfunwithtrains6067 жыл бұрын
Andres Nunez I'm also building my own route for trainz and what I normally do is I build small 3 to 6 baseboard route with all the track work and detailing done, I then merge the route with another 3 to 6 baseboard route and try to fit the pieces together, which can be messy to do but it's possible I then detail the merged point and continue to work on small modules for the route, just my way of building routes hope this helps you.

Look for inspiration everywhere on Railpictures.net and google maps. Don't try to model real life too closely as you can get bogged down really quick

It looks amazing! If you dont mind, could you tell me how you did the screen motion at 16:31? As in, how did you hide the green compass thing that moves around the ground when you move. (im not sire how else to describe it). It would help me out a ton in my own videos. Thanks!
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
You can disable the compass in your game options

Another inspiring video. Your work is so interesting. Thanks for your effort of bringing it to us. I agree with the less than perfect track, an observation I've made myself. When I look at any real train video or walk along tracks I see how misaligned and scalloped they are. I like the imperfect look. Question: You have mammoth piles of gravel near the silos that are partially burring the buildings? Spills? Why are they there?
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
To be honest I'm not sure what the gravel piles are all about. All I know is that's what I've seen in photos so I added them XD I'm guessing that's how the gravel is sorted by size though.

Hi i love your videos they really keep me entertained and wanting to keep playing trainz. I have 2 questions, first what trees do you use mostly? Also what are your most commonly used recourses? Thanks!!!!
@ApproachMedium7 жыл бұрын
JVC stuff is good. ST_RMM for trees. That's what comes to mind off the top of my head. In the bottom left of the video you'll see the KUID numbers for the assets I currently have selected, so you can always pause the video and download the same asset for yourself.

normally I thought that lakes formed in abandoned quarry pits
@jacobfrei30377 жыл бұрын
Matt Kundrick That is true, but AM is right. If they start mining below the water table (which most quarries and mines do), the pit will fill with water. Most companies dig a sump in their pit to draw water to and then they pump it out or use it for dust control.

It looks great. May I ask how much video Ram you are using? Are you using a gaming computer? The assets you use have a lot of detail. Is that because of the settings you use or 3rd party assets that have better detail.
@ApproachMedium6 жыл бұрын
I custom built my rig last year to be a beast ;-) Processor: Intel Core i7 7700k @ 4.5 GHz RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
@josephlukas27896 жыл бұрын
4.5.. damn.. That Geforce.. is that 11 gigs?. I'm going to go with 3.2 GHZ 16 ram and the same graphics card.. do you think I will get just as good detail ?
@ApproachMedium6 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Ti is 11 or 12 gigs. You'll definitely get just as good detail. My system is a bit overkill for the game but I wanted to future proof myself a bit.
