On the other side of the yard it might be cool to have a large river, you could also add some small coal-barge loading facilities if you did this. It would also make Allegheny seem more like Pittsburgh which is how I imagined it.

Love it bro on one side of the road yard you should add abandoned track

The yard itself is perfect, cities can be a pain. I usually base cities on something I know quite well.

I agree with you. You should just release phase 1 as the track between Allegheny and Juniata

Take a look at Huntington WV on google maps. It is very similar to what you are trying to accomplish with Allegheny Yard.

Hey AM, I am a steelworker at a mill in Pittsburgh, Pa. If you have any questions about steel mills when you get to it I’m glad to help!

Awesome, thank you! I’ll let you know for sure. Going to do some research myself first then do the build. I’ll let you know if I have questions. 😊

With me I think it's more the opposite problem. I tend to laser focus in on tiny areas and then find it's been hours and I've got hardly anything built
@Michael4201YT6 жыл бұрын
hey AM you should do a before and after video showing the unfinished scenes from the P&B tour video you did a while back showing what the unfinished scenes looked like then and how they look like now

Great job man, I think it came out great!!! I know what you mean about designing cities, they're not one of my strong spots either. Just a couple thoughts. That access road out the back end of the yard should probably be dirt. I'd also take that grove of trees and put a dispatch tower. I had the opportunity to go into one a couple years back and they're usually put where you can see the whole yard. As for as the other side, I'd put an intermodal yard, then an interstate, and then uburban communities. There's a setup very similar at some of teh yards in Kansas City I've seen. Hope that helps man!!!

Are you able to build a harbour on the back of that steel mill? That would look definitely not out of place..

To be honest, I would rather have a "garbage" video than no video. Your videos are the highlight of my Fridays! And I agree with everyone else on this: this was an awesome video!

You are gracious enough to share, it all boils down to the viewer learning or just passing thru. It's like the live shows you do, some just want to chat away, to bad there wasn't another option like: Full screen with approved "want to learn" posters in the corner....yea, dream on Joe (me). Thanks Joe, I appreciate the time you put into this!

Really good work as always AM! I agree about the service road thingy, I don't think it looks realistic. I find the road markings on that road look weird and too bright. Looking forward to your next video. Keep up the good work!

Every freight yard I’ve worked in any sort of access road would be dirt or ballast. Only pavement I see is in the intermodal or auto ramps. Great work!

Yeah - cities are hard for me too. That's why on the original I had only the steel mill and yard with the idea of the city being off adjacent but not built.

For my build style I build things in stages. 1: terrain 2: tracks and roads 3: buildings 4: texturing 5: foliage 6: minor details By doing one type of editing at a time, I found that you can do much larger areas when you don’t mash all sorts of different details together (like what you did here). I make much more progress in a route then picking a single siding to detail and spending hours on end on it. Doing like the way above helps me use the same sort of assets throughout the map. It also looks just as good as the typical way of the Appoach Medium 👍

Sorry, but not a fan of the yard layout. Might I suggest a similar track layout to Sparks, NV. The Layout for this Allegheny Yard, looks too linear. Yards usually have a tapered appearance, and they have switching leads so they do not need to foul the Mainlines when switching... just my 2 cents....
