The ending was perfect. Their separation to pursue their careers was a clear statement. What often may be misconstrued as an act of selfishness was actually an act of love.

That was not the point of the ending. The point is although, their individual successes may have been limited, they could have made it work together. Same thing for the audience member viewing. It is worth pursuing the relationship, even if the dream is modified. There is also the message of acceptance of one's choices. Although they probably should have stayed together, they have to live with the fact that she's married and has a child. That opportunity is gone, but life goes on.

@@aceuni-rider6921 to be honest I think the storyline is based off the eyes of the beholder. I’ve seen so many interpretations, analysis, video essays, articles, etc. and they all make sense. We can all feel a little bit of each and everything that anyone talks about from it, the movie in itself is an amazing love story that one can feel more connected to as this isn’t one of those fairytale endings. Life moves on.

My relationship with the love of my life ended in 2014. Two years later the movie comes out and I am a complete mess by the end, it was such a close parallel to how ours developed and fell apart. In the end, we said goodbye convinced it was the best for both, such were our differences. I was only able to see it one more time a couple of years ago, and I still cried... just a little less. I saw her two years ago, same as the movie. Just two weeks ago, had a brief conversation out of the blue. I just finished watching this edit and I feel like, after all, it was for the best and at least I have the sweetest memories of my life. I feel like a weight has been lifted from me. THANK YOU.

La la land es mi película favorita de todos los tiempos. Siempre e dicho que es una obra maestra incomprendida. El final es el único que pudo haber existido entre mia y sebastian. Toda la película te muestran el camino de mia en lograr sus sueños y sebastian apoyándola dándolo todo, incluso su propio sueño. El final te pone dos caminos. Lograr tus sueños o encontrar el amor de tu vida. Para muchos parecerá una respuesta sencilla, pero para ellos sus sueños lo es todo. Sus lágrimas, sacrificios, sangre. Es difícil dejarlos. La la land es la mejor película de la historia ya que te muestra que a veces dejar ir tu alma gemela es aveces la forma más noble demostrar tu amor. “- Cuando lo consigas tendrás que dedicarte de lleno a eso. Me rompo un poco por dentro cada vez que escucho Mia and Sebastian's theme, me transmite todos los sentimientos existentes en uno y me transporta a otra dimensión, el mundo a mi alrededor desaparece mientras la oigo como les pasaba a los protagonistas de la película. I always wanted to be loved by someone for my heart. That guy never knocked on my door. So I stopped looking at the bolt and asked God if he has better plans for me.
