One of the bigger problems is that there is a pretty big number of “Humanitarian Agencies”…that depend of a continuous flow of these sick and addicted people…for their grants from the government..to “help them”….thats why this problem never seems to get solved. And that’s a fact!.

@@tomcervenka7883 actually it started way before that, B.C is now in its 7th or 8th year of this toxic drug crisis with no end in sight, the legalizing was put in place because with the homeless no longer fearing arrest from using, It was then surmised that with the police no longer bothering them this would encourage street people to attend treatment of their own choosing, but our illustrious leaders did not take into consideration just how incredibly strong fentanyl is and all these programs only enabled addiction not helping them....

@@jeffluebke5945they cleaned it up ( bussed people out) in the mid 80s for Expo then again for dignitaries’ visits. But yes, this is much more concentrated ( as it is in most other cities in NA now) than it was 30 years ago. The encampments have morphed into 3rd world cities within cities. Compounded with the drugs cut w the tranq & fentanyl ( and whatever else whoever along its trajectory from field to user is put in it:(….the astronomical cost of housing & food & our general greed in society & government, it’s a mess worst than 30 years ago.

@@reverendaljones45 ..Hey I agree…nothing including Bangladesh looked like this in 1985. I actually came to Vancouver in 1980 and my dentist’s office was right at Main and Hastings. Even at that point the place was a “moving feast of mayhem” ….but things got totally out of control once the province shut down the regional psychiatric centre at Riverview. With that said, I can assure you that if you lived on that stretch in the early 1980’s there was about a 95% chance that you were either an addict or an alcoholic. I think you know as well as I do that neither of us would ever consider living down there even back then.

Biggest shithole I've ever had the misfortune to say I lived in. Not to mention that rent is double or more of other Canadian cities. I got out of there after just short of one year, as quickly as I could find a job in another city. Why people pay a premium to live in such a state of a city is beyond me.

Vancouver watcher. This is not the whole of downtown Vancouver. This is East Hastings. I understand there is a major problem in East Vancouver. Primarily East Hastings. It is unfair to say the whole of Downtown Vancouver is the same. Go to English bay, Stanley park, Yale Town and show us those areas. You are not walking the whole city, all your videos are focused on east Hastings, a little messed up to monetize off others suffering.
