Yes, there are other raptors in the area, including other bald eagles, and they may even be tempted by the nest. Shadow was once an intruder!

Because they’re a wild bird prepared for these conditions. The largest population of eagles is in ALASKA.

@RioJudy- hi ! If you don’t already know you should read about the Eagles in Alaska! It’s fascinating! They’re larger and lay eggs later in the season. They also have groups of eagles that hang out together!! It’s so interesting!! They live a bit differently! I suppose all animals must find ways to adapt. We humans are their biggest threat. We must change that!!! ❤️🦅❤️🦅 have a great day!!

I think the same, there’s not much space there. But it totally looks like the build a new nest in that tree.

Maybe they're doing some revamping & adding some extra insulation for the next clutch? Idk if it'd help but I do know that I've seen a lot of comments, this year & last, about the "warmth" being so high up & maybe that there's more of a draft from underneath. Whatever they're doing I truly hope this next time pans out. 3rd x's a charm 🙏🤞

They collect sticks because the nest requires regular maintenance. They will not build a new one unless this one is destroyed, such as if it is blown away by strong winds or the tree is broken by a storm
