I grew oysters there 20 + years ago. They didn't grow much but they didn't die. We were testing to see if the flushing tunnel that was just repaired was cleaning up the water !

None of this makes sense, since NYC hasn't put the two 8 and 4 million gallon sewage containers respectivley into place to stop the CSO (combined sewage overflow) from reaching the canal. The two sewage storage containers are definitely not e ough there should be at minimum two more, if not three more installed at three more of the 8 sites that discharge Taw sewage Into this canal. NYC needs to build under any city owned lands, such as parks, service storage, truck storage or Other facilities across all 5 boroughs to end this disgusting practice of raw sewage entering the bays, canals, rivers or estuaries in and around the city. Connecticut, Washington DC and countries like Thailand have built huge underground containers that take overflows into them and hold them until the Strom flow has subsided and the raw sewage can be sent to the waste treatment plants. I don't understand why NYC building, zoning and planning department have not force developers to install smaller like containers into the foundations of these new high rise multi millionaire dollar buildings that can take the strain off the sewage treatment plants.
