Footage of the first Huntsville, AL tornado as it came through town around 5:18PM. We were stationed in a parking lot at the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University in Huntsville, facing due north. Note the power flashes, power surges and the power failure as it hits. The entire northern part of AL was without power after this monster brought down some transmission lines from the Browns Ferry nuclear power plant. The NWS office in Huntsville confirmed that this tornado was indeed an EF-5 multi-vortex tornado. We saw the damage first hand.. it was pretty horrific. We are keeping those affected by this tornado in our thoughts and prayers, and hope for the best for everyone.
I apologize for the shaky camera work, but it's really hard to hold a camera while getting hit with 50mph+ RFD winds.
