Thank you! When I started this channel my husband asked me, "What if only one other person is interested in teaching a foreign language at home like you?" (hypothetical. He knows there are more) and I answered, "Well then I guess I will know that person really well!" I think I will stop the French monthlies over the summer and then pick them back up after we start 5th grade. Thanks for your supportive comments!

Love the foreign language updates!! You inspire me to look into other possible options. I have a first-grader learning Spanish, but he's interested in learning French next. I never thought of doing a summer camp overseas or elsewhere besides my own state, so thanks for bringing that up. It's those little things that we don't talk about that give us endless possibilities.

I'm really glad I can offer ideas. I wish there were more viable options in the US but what I am discovering is that the immersion camps in the US are just as expensive -- if not more so -- than a immersion overseas. And if you go overseas, you are guaranteed to be immersed all day, every second, not just when school is in session. We are banking on using my husbands airline miles to make these trips way cheaper. And living with a host family hugely cuts costs, although I think it adds to stress because you have to make sure you get along with the family. When we world school next year, maybe we should make a point to visit a few schools. It would be great if I could get that on video and share it... actually meet the teachers and view the schools... now I need to add that to my world school list!

I just discovered and then promptly binge watched your foreign language playlist. I am so excited to learn from your journey. I’m curious if you’re liking the A La Une textbook (is there also a workbook) and, if you are, where you sourced it.

I'm go glad you found me! Thanks for watching. I just added our fourth grape wrap up video to the French play list because Morgan and I speak French together in it, so you can check that one out if you like. I don't really have an opinion on the À La Une books because I am not the one teaching it. It is usually taught by a French teacher with the audio files and who have used it before. Looking at the book, it actually confuses me. But Morgan does like it, it is more a proper French style of learning which I think is important, and she learned from it with the help of her Alliance Française teacher. Now that she will be taking French through The Well Trained Mind Academy, they use the À Plus Un book which is very similar in layout, style and tempo. I feel like I would have to be better at French to teach with these books - and really figure out the audio and schedule before I used it.

Thanks so much for this helpful update. Could you please share links to who you use for tutors and French summer schools?

I have been in touch with this one for some time now: frenchsummerclasses.com They have a family program I would be interested in. There are actually quite a few summer classes in France. I would encourage you to look around and then contact each directly to get a good feel for them, their professionalism, accommodations, etc. When we travel to France next year, I intend to take a tour of a couple in person and meet the directors. And for tutoring, we went with Alliance Française. They are everywhere and you can choose any. If you have one near you, you can attend class and activities in person, which would be ideal, but we don't have that luxury!
