Hmm. I didn't catch the Zep quote on first listen through. I was thinking there might be something from Over the Hills and Far Away, but I didn't really see it.

Hi, don't know if you've still replying to these comments, but do you use alternating picking on the fast runs or something else? Really nice version btw
@lucapinoguitar Жыл бұрын
HI! Well i dont have a standard alternate picking approach, it's always a downstroke on a string change for me with this style. But if there is a multiple note run on a single string then i am picking up and down. Hope that helps!

@@lucapinoguitar hi, thanks for reply. Ok, gonna try this. Ive been playing this tune for years buf can never get as fast as the original recordng lol

Can I ask if this is a jazz piece?
@lucapinoguitar2 жыл бұрын
It's a song by the great Eddie Lang! So in the early jazz guitar diaspora, yes :)
@oldbladderhorn9493 жыл бұрын
must say that was brilliant, played both parts. lead and backing rhythm, near flawless. better than the original when you look at it. manages to almost keep separate both guitar parts. Eddie went and hid the invisible second guitar in the mix to confound the listener. while young mr Pino manages to confound my eye's with his magical talent and for all to see. so this is how to play it if you look and listen real hard what a great effort 👍👍👍😌👍
@przybyla4203 жыл бұрын
Well he did a good job then, it sounds like one guitar is playing the runs and the chords except for maybe a couple times, and of course if open partial chords are involved, you can leave a chord ringing while you begin the next run

Giving the strong illusion of havin two guitar parts
@blackbirdsocietyorchestra84712 жыл бұрын
First - he does a great job here BUT "old bladder" are you serious? "better than the original" ? It's sloppy at times and rushed, with lack of emotion that a slight 'delay' would cause. Not even close. And Eddie did not " hide a 2nd guitar" he is playing solo .
@oldbladderhorn9492 жыл бұрын
@@blackbirdsocietyorchestra8471 I wrote that as a first listening comment. but you are quite right it's never in the same league as the original. but you must give encouragement to youth as they will see their errors and i don't think he was trying to be a copy cat. he was being himself and who knows what he might become, give him a few years. April kisses is not that hard a tune really but it gives insights to other things about how to make a tune breath. I worked on this tune a little, got it quite close to it. but now it is forgotten so on to something new and some thing new. Starting to figure out Rosslyn by John Renbourn a nice little piece very clever use of finger picking techniques and there are some brilliant covers of it here on the tube to help out, with possible fingering and finger positions. plus dear old Mr Renbourn did tab it for everyone to see how to play it. but not finger wise. i like that as you have to figure that out for yourself. easy tunes are figured just by listening then listening again as i did with April kisses.
