Great vid. Wall socket hack saved me splicing into furnace for 24v transformer. If you do, don’t use the “hum” humidifier on the furnace circuit board as it will only run when in use, it needs continuous power to function. Use the “EAC” for the 24v transformer power in, 110v, and a free “NEUT” neutral.

Appreciate the video! Need to change title to "700" vs 700M since installation of 700M (manual humidistat) and 700 (automatic humidistat) appear to have somewhat different procedures.

Thanks for the installation walkthrough on the 700. One suggestion, my advice is to throw away the saddle valve. They are known to fail and banned in many municipalities. Instead, install a tee and a 5/8" to 1/4" stop. I never install these things as I've had to tear them out many times and replace them with an actual proper stop.
@DrRicksGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah probably will do that because it started to fail.

Saddle values are terrible, so I put in a Sharkbite with a 1/4" compression connection and use 1/4 ice maker Stainless steel compression fitting hose. You can hook right at your water heater on the hot water side. None of that sweating, burning or wasting gas to use cooper line with ferrules.

Do you have a ductless system or something? What HVAC doesn't have either besides a ductless?

Thanks so much for your video! We had 16:39 an AprilAire 700 installed with new furnace last August. We weren’t told about how to operate it. I noticed the nondigital control box was not mounted and left in bag with manuals. When we inquired they said we wouldn’t need it because it was set up to come on when the furnace came on. So went downstairs and turned on hot water line running from water heater to unit and water is running to AprilAire unit when furnace turns on but humidity doesn’t seem to be going up in house. It seems to hover around 36-37. You can set level of humidity by thermostat or phone app. I’ve tried raising humidity on app up to 50 but humidity not going up. Any thoughts? Does it take a certain amount of time for pad saturation before humidity raises? Fan blower in April air working. Thanks a bunch for any help you can give!

I hate saddle values they always seem to cause issues eventually. I would cut the pipe and soldier in a quarter turn shut off valve.

Hi why is the air flow from the supply seemingly over powering the airflow from the fan and subsequently pushing the water into the fan housing instead of the duct? So much so that the water is draining through the housing instead of the tube.
@Balticblue932 жыл бұрын
Holy shit... really? How big of a furnace fan do you have? That should be basically sucking it through the unit. That is more than for use when the HVAC system isn't calling for heat or AC but is circulating air 24/7 and needs humidity.
@jayandrew40862 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Bowman what I have concluded at this point is the humidifier unit was installed on thr supply directly above to coil fan. So the air from the furnace is blowing directly into the humidifier. I believe on this or another instructional video it says to install one panel higher than the coil . My issue is there is no space higher. So I have to Uninstall and move it to the return?
@Balticblue932 жыл бұрын
@@jayandrew4086 I think you make a valid point there because when I install this model for my HVAC customers, I use the return air side to mount the unit because I have found the system puts more humidity into the system instead of the fan pressure of air from the blower rushing by and possibly not getting the humidity it needs. Also, those saddle valves are junk and sometimes do not let enough water flow. I recommend using a different valve where you can control the volume of air and make sure the fan runs 24/7 on the blower and humidifier, if it has a call for humidity that is set by the controller. I have no space on the supply side on home system, so mine is installed on the return side. Works great but I use my system 24/7 365 days of the year, if it needs 35%-38% humidity, otherwise it is off, but this is Colorado, it runs nearly constantly.

Does it blow the air into the duct or out of the duct? And what do you do for summer with the AC, do you blank it off somehow?
@Balticblue932 жыл бұрын
Blow air into the duct the unit is attached to. And it depends how you wire it and where you live, which will depend if you use it during months outside of winter. I use mine the entire year around because of my climate. Relative humidity is super low all the time.

can this unit be installed on the cold air return if you don't have access to supply?

I’m not sure about this exact unit look online and see. I’ve installed others but they’re not as efficient
@Balticblue932 жыл бұрын
Yes, you definitely can install it on the return air duct but make sure your water line connection is to the hot side and it uses hot water, not cold water.
