Aprilia RS125 REVIEW 2024

Finally I get to ride my Aprilia RS125 that is super fast. I have not had a ride on one of these since 1999 and after a few miles and a few adjustments I begin to love it

Bought a 2009 RS 125 here in the U.S. Rare here since they only imported a few hundred. Mine was street kitted and is rode legal. 34 mm carb, Vortex reed, pneumatic power valve, and TYGA exhaust. It has done 1400 miles, and it's a bike I have always wanted. Most say it's one of the funniest bikes I have owned to date.

Yes, it took me a while to get into it... but I actually enjoyed it in the end, and with a big bore kit fitted, these can be loads of fun

I need to bleed the rear brake on mine and MOT it. I bought it new in 1993, one of the first batch in the country. I traded in an AF1 Futura to buy the RS (the Futura turned up on eBay in 2008 so I bought it back). I had an fz750 already when I bought the rs. Engine on that one is a Rotax 122 (nothing to do with Suzuki). Came with the 28mm carb as standard. Earlier ones like mine had the Rotax 123 engine and the 34mm carb . The power valve is open under 2500rpm (just a self cleaning function) - so it makes a difference to exhaust note.

Wow that's brilliant getting your old bike back I keep looking for my old RS250 but no joy it suddenly had an mot in 2019 but not after that

@@PXCBIKESI tend to keep bikes ages. Rare to sell them (feels like betraying them). I still have the fz750 as well. I bought that in 1990. Frame currently away being powder coated.

That is awsome wish I could keep all of mine but some of them will stay... I have never bought a bike. New.......... Don't think I have bought a bike that starts and runs 🤔

@@PXCBIKES over the years I have bought 2 bikes new , my RS125 and my 1200 Bandit (plus the Futura was almost new when I first bought it in 1991 - 70km on the clocks). Others have varied in age and condition. 1 was bought as spare parts for another, but was too nice to break so was fixed up instead. I made 1 good Aprilia AF1 Sintesi from 2. My ysr50 was over 20 years old but only 197km old when I bought it. The FZ has been off the road for quite a while . Finally sorting it out. Probably a few bills coming soon! Tyres, powder coating, bearings, brake seals / pistons, brake lines, etc. Various bits are currently soaking in acetone waiting for me to have a chance to Cerakote them (brake calipers, fork lowers, switchgear housings, etc). It will be nice to have it back on the road, although I might change my mind when my body remembers how uncomfortable the seat really is!

My take on rs 125 owners, Typically the main types you'll get will be your young person wanting the fastest 125 around (arguably for some), then you get your young people who want to restore one back to spec or back to road running machines not very common now but there are still a few, you also do get the older folk who rode one 20 years ago and miss the feeling of one. That is my own personal opinion.

Nice one Paul. Love the RS125. You can see / hear the difference in the power valve after you'd adjusted it. I think it needs just a little bit more though. Love the sound of the 2 stroke. It's got me looking for something to scratch that itch again now 😂. Have you seen the price of RS250 's?? 😱😱😱🤑🤑 Can't beat having to punch an extra hole in the belt, particularly when it's making it a tighter fit 👌👍 Looking forward to seeing the next vid. You should do a meet up this summer for those with late 90's & early 00's super bikes. I'd definitely attend on either my 7R (if I ever get it to run on all 4) or R1.

Haha I will never grow out of them pants 👖😉🤟 I would love an RS250 I will get one at some point I actually looked at several before I got the 916 and walked away from them so I ended up with the 916...i would love to attend some biker meets but I have never had the time... Hopefully I can just get out more this year

my front brake sometimes need pressing a few time to pressurize and others its really pressured and barely needs touching to brake is this what you havve if so whats your solution

Oh it definitely has air in the brake line if it does that.. it should be nice and firm at all times ...mine felt like the lever was stuck...
