APRILIA STRUGGLES WITH DESIGN. I love the brand. Stellar performance. Solid reliability. Sportive set-ups. Such a shame design hardly ever keeps up. I get it, the Piaggio Group has low budgets, but over the years it's unlikely you could not assemble a team of at least design interns. Such a shame. Great looking: -850 Mana -2021 RSV4 Factory facelift (slim headlights) -RS 125 (especially older ones) OK-looking: -Dorsoduros -750 Shiver -900 Shiver -RSV4 before 2021, after 2025 (wings) -RS 457 -Tuareg 660 -SX 125 -RX 125 Bad-looking: -All Tuonos (the V4 Tuono is my favourite motorbike of all time, DESPITE its looks, the half-fairing simply doesn't looks well on any displacement, it is neither a faired full sportsbike, nor a naked, they all look like aborted attempts) -RS 660 -RSV 1000 -This 457 Tuono might be the biggest low yet Such a shame. My favourite brand. The more modest, albeit sublimely performative brand. Yet design is always off, not on par with Ducati or MV (or even Yamaha, Honda) Aprilia is a permanent pain, a permanent frustration.

VERY BAD LOOKING. Such a crying shame! There is hardly any design to talk about. The rear seat, headlight and that's it. From the right the bike looks ok, from the left it looks like a cheap Chinese motorbike, not even a premium one. The rims look bad both on this and the RS457. I've already seen that one here in Barcelona. All parts at the left from headstock to rear wheel look bad, as if they had not been designed. Build quality impression is terrible. Good: -Rear light -Rider's seat OK: -Frame -Banana swingarm from right -Engine from the right -Rear seat unit -Front radial mount brake from the right -Tank Bad looking: -Headlight -Rims -Engine from the left -Swingarm from the left -Left swingarm cover -Thin fork -Indicators at the rear number plate unit -Shock/spring -Build quality appearance overall Proportions don't look as bad as e.g. the RS 660 but the bike looks skinny. Compare with the chunky-looking first generation KTM 390 Duke (or even second and third) SUCH A SHAME. Those of us who love the brand have been waiting decades for you to avail models for the budget, mid-price, small-engine segments. I have lived in Indonesia and Malaysia. Young people over there would love to have regular-size motorbikes (legislation there penalises high displacement engines, making them unaffordable). Latin America is also a growing market without displacement taxation penalties, currently being swamped by Chinese manufacturers. They would love to have a premium brand baby model they can afford. This Tuono 457 simply looks horrendous. Comparisons are odious but have a look at what KTM or CF-Moto are offering. All the market for two brands. MISSED OPPORTUNITY.
