Road bike only track day 23rd June 2017 23.06.17
2016 Aprilia Tuono Factory 1100 running Conti race attack endurance tyres, Brembo SC pads & Austin Racing GP1R can (baffled)
Kept raining all day, on the last 2 laps it was spitting so I eased off. Big brake fade as well. Next mod is an upgraded master cylinder!
Thanks for watching please like and subscribe for more uploads

@@mrmaker9355 Maybe. I think there could be plenty of reasons why he bought the Tuono. Maybe the final one was, that he got passed by it. But isn't it a good choice to go for a bike which seems better than yours, when you are not satisfied with your own anyway? You reduce it to this one moment when he got passed which indeed looks foolish then. But it's not necessarily the truth.

The RSV1000 motor is perfect for Cadwell; light, punchy, plenty of controllable mid range power, unlike almost any 916/996/1098 Ducati twin, which by comparison all feel twitchy and shake their bars over Cadwell's many bumps. You have the Woodland section sorted except for the exit onto the pitlane straight, you're losing about a second there, plus you could carry more speed up Charlies 1, the bike won't push out to the right, the hill knocks the edge off it, so keep on the gas all the way to the crest. Still a great circuit, even with that extra chicane in it.

Nice one my fellow Tuono owner - overtaking R1s is fun. IMHO you don't need the expense of a new master cylinder - just swap to Brembo Race fluid and try SBS Dual Carbon pads. That's what I've done on my Tuono V4 APRC and no fade - I'm an ex rugby player >100Kg and learned fast after boiling a front brake around Brands Hatch on my 2011 Crossplane R1. The R1 was great fun but ultimately too heavy. The Tuono is massive fun - real lol bike. If it rains though, swap to normal road pads as the Dual Carbon graphite goes mushy in very damp conditions. Have fun!

Birky 41 - if only I had half his ability :-) Thanks for the APRC settings - I’ll try these & see how it feels. May order & fit a 44 tooth rear Sprocket as Knockhill is quite tight and twisty..... Are you running the std Pirelli Supercorsa SP’s? If so what pressure are you at?
@Birky_41
@Birky_41 6 жыл бұрын
Unless you regularly track leave gearing. It's pretty good. If you went up a couple on the rear you'll have more punch but you'll be working your foot through the box even more As for tyres the SP are good although they wear very quick. I was running conti race attack endurance which are the same as SP. If you track often scrap them and go SC range... Much better As for pressures off warmers and checking after first session I ran depending on brand sound 22psi rear slicks upto 26psi rear pirelli sp range and all are between 31-32f psi. Tyres are very personal as are pressures

Got any ideas on a decent first time track back? I should probably say I'm not the easiest to cater for cos I have bad arthritis and it does affect my riding. I was thinking about trying to get a gsxr 750 or something, but they're quite a bit more expensive - what was your first track bike ?
@Birky_41
@Birky_41 6 жыл бұрын
+StuOnTwo definitely think the gsxr 750 is a great bike. My k1 750 which I sold last year is up for sale. My mate who bought it just got a cbr1000 so he wants £1500. If you watch the k1 750 videos or andulucia that's the bike I like the 750 as from k1 onwards they handle well and feel like a 600 but with more punch. It keeps them still quick on track even compared to a new 600 That k1 makes 121bhp at the rear which is perfect for fun. It handles very well too as I had a nice setup on it (all k5)

What time's do you need to be under for fast group?
@Birky_41
@Birky_41 3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the group day. Example this was a road bike only day no warmers no daytime MOTs. I was in fast group and anyone running 140s but less than 150s would've been fine. On a normal track day with dedicated bikes, track tyres and warmers you might want to take a few seconds off to be comfy in fast group. Again though low 140s would have you in fast and high 130s which is my best times would put you comfortably at the top end

@Birky_41 3 жыл бұрын
5ft 11in (180cm) and yes at the time of owning this MY16 Tuono a mate had an MT10 same year. They are really good bikes for the money but need a couple bits doing. Front brake fade was unreal. New pads and ideally lines needed. The engine bottom to mid is really strong it just loses out a bit high up the revs vs the Tuono. They deck out quite easy too unless you remove the hero blobs or put rearsets on
@VState60
@VState60 3 жыл бұрын
Birky 41 I’m 6’3 and have had my ‘19 MT-10 for nearly a year now and I’m addicted to bikes so I’m thinking about making the switch. I got on the SuperDuke 1190 before pulling the trigger on the MT but the distance to pegs were super short and I may as well have been on a supersport. The Xplane sounds amazing but we all know the best sound in the world is that V4 Tuono. Is it possible to turn the ABS and TC completely off easily on the Tuono? Removing the ABS fuse/Brembo pads and fluid/removing the feelers on the rear sets and setting up suspension is all I’ve done since taking it from the showroom-had them install full M4 exhaust before I picked it up. Oh and I had it flashed/tuned-did the Tuono need to be flashed? And you’re right-I ride like you (hard braking/point & shoot/lots of sliding) and the front brake fades and fades. Power remains but the feel is gone.
@Birky_41
@Birky_41 3 жыл бұрын
Yep a great thing about the Aprilia is the ability to adjust things - some on the fly. You can turn ABS off or have in 1,2 or 3. TC has 8 settings you can do while riding or hold the minus and turn off which I'll do if I'm doing rolling burn outs. WC has 3 settings you can do on the fly but tbh I leave that off and LC has 3 settings but again if you decide to use it you'll want it on 1. I find you can launch quicker with it off if you're smooth on the throttle. With it on it restricts it a bit too much in 1st

Its the same at track days here in Ireland, lads just want an "ADV" sticker for the front of the bike. Riders should be assigned to a group depending on their lap times. Thats how they do it at those track events in Herez and Cartagena etc, makes for a safer and more enjoyably day for all groups

ERR I thought your were supposed to have 2/3 warm up laps before you overtake other riders, cos to me it looks like you carved your way through some sensible riders on warm up laps, or maybe you all just did those warm up laps then came in and got released again. If that's the case then fair enough... I know Guy's have been really hurt by d/heads thinking their Crutchlow straight after being released from Pit lane. Sorry for the salt but it just looks that way. Great bike, like your taste in bike I own the 2017 RSVR RF. Safe Riding.

Only first session here in England. Mandatory 3 warm up laps before you can start pushing on. That's the case for msv, no limits and focused events. Some run transponders too so they can gauge what group you 'should' be in rather than the group you 'chose'. Fair play on the comments but I've always thought of myself as considerate to all bikers road or track regardless of ability and have alot of laughs with many people in my area Great choice of bike you have - it's what I want as my next track bike after the gsxr
