Why not just keep your thumbnails long??? I'm pretty sure you don't need your thumbs when playing. (Im no music expert so please correct me if I'm wrong)

Kalimbas usually only use thumbs and I've never played the violin before, but isn't the thumb just for stability of the violin's neck[?]?

You could get 'kalimba thumb picks' :)

Same but you can buy thumb picks for kalimbas so that you don't need to grow out your nail

Many commented they have to grow their nails first. But the real first step is: *OWN A KALIMBA* Edit: My Kalimba just arrived today. It's so fun and soothing at the same time. The sound is so sweet. And for a first timer, I'm proud of myself. I can't believe I made my own tab for song Auld Lang Syne and Doe a Deer in the same day I first play Kalimba. I'm looking forward myself haha

@@auliaajie1072 mine is the one with hole.. Just like in the video but without a brand. I bought it from shopee. It's cheaper but still a good quality for me. The body made from mahogany. The sound also very clear. No regret after buying it.

@The detective GamerUwU well I got inspired by Simplynailogical on KZbin and I keep polish on all the time - it's a great feeling having long natural, polished nails that I don't really know how to explain haha.. I used to have nubs and I'm not going back to that. The closest way I can describe the feeling is like how confident some people feel wearing heels.

subscribed dude... anyway, what type of kalimba wood did you use? i search for google and i found 3 type of kalimba, its bamboo, mahogany, and gecko... but i confuse what is the different between them... Help me...

@@vinnon Thanks! My particular Kalimba uses Mahogany wood. I do not think there is a huge difference between the different types of wood. The colour is the main difference :)

This is my first time watching a tutorial about Kalimba and I'm thinking of purchasing one. I saw a girl playing Love of My Life by Queen in a Kalimba on Facebook and it was my first time seeing one! Amazing! I love Mandarin Chinese and I love the Kalimba, I just ordered one and can't wait to play it! So this is a splendid combination, I can learn to play the Kalimba and I can learn some more Chinese at the same time! Yeah, I love it!!! :D The only slight problem I face is that I play the violin at the same time so long fingernails are a physical impossibility. :/ But I will manage somehow!
