The Alegorias Cubanas, Cuban Allegories issues, were the result of the Spanish - Cuban - American war of 1898. They were designed, engraved, and printed in the US in 1899. Printing was done by the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing and are the only stamp issued printed by the Bureau with the name of a foreign country.
The chat introduces the viewer the images or items in which the design was based on and their printing. Along the way it includes some history of the young republic and the events that lead to war and further occupation of the island.
The presentation also brings to light the differences between the US Bureau printings and those by the American Bank Note Company for the Republic . Along the way, usage of the stamps and basic rate structure are discussed and shown. The presentation concludes with the replacement issues of 1910.
