The LiPo I did the ROF test is a rectangular cell pack that is small enough to fit in a buffer tube, but it was a little too fat to fit in this gun. I haven't modified the gun to fit it yet, but I anticipate just having to sand down the inner ribs in the battery compartment a little bit to make it fit. In the mean time, I've got another stick LiPo that I use in it.
@booliganshootingsports11 жыл бұрын
Feeding with hi-caps hasn't been an issue on the LiPo, but some of the midcaps required a shim at the back of the magwell to keep up. Basically, if a mag will feed in the gun, it'll feed pretty well with the LiPo.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
So far, I'm really impressed with the quality of the polymer used in the body. There is zero flex or wobble in it, and it's nice and thick throughout.
@booliganshootingsports11 жыл бұрын
Sure, as long as you are okay running hi-caps only. Making it run midcaps takes a little bit of work and comfort working on your gun comes with experience.
@DeltaElite12112 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly, we ended up getting one of these in at work today. I'll be doing a small follow-up review to yours to touch up on some things that you didn't mention (mostly the small details).So far, though - it's a great gun for the price. Not perfect, but a whole lot better than some of the other stuff out there in the same price point.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
If you run a PEQ box on one of the rails, you can most likely run the 9.6v battery. There's plenty of wire length to make it work.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
Glad you were able to get it off. Once you break loose that glue, it comes right off, but that glue that they used was TOUGH. It almost looked like a thin coating of JBWeld. Crazy that they did that, especially since you have to take it off to open up the gun.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
That's not false. It is CCW threaded, you do have to turn it to the right (counterclockwise) to remove it. The issue I had was just that it was on there too tight and was glued in place. You can get it off once you're able to properly apply torque to it, which requires you to split the gun into the two pieces like I explained before.
@booliganshootingsports11 жыл бұрын
Star PMags ARE official Magpul licensed, but I haven't been able to test the newest PTS mags. Any hi-cap will work, pretty much, midcaps need some work to fit and feed. Check out the written review for more info.
@booliganshootingsports11 жыл бұрын
The flashhider isn't a HUGE issue, you can actually fully disassemble the gun with it in place, just by taking out the barrel centering ring as I explained in another comment. The trigger pull isn't too bad, as far as a bullpup rifle goes. They always have iffy trigger pulls, but this feels better than the Tavor, P90 and AUG in my collection. I wouldn't expect them to make too many changes in later runs to be honest.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the vents and wiring length make it a piece of cake to run a PEQ box on it.

As far as feeding goes, I had issues with my STAR P-mags, both long and short, and to get them to feed reliably, I had to put a small strip of tape on the top of the mag catch hole on the magazine itself. Basically, it's not locked in far enough up to hit the feed tube, so to make it sit slightly higher, I used the tape at the top of the hole. I'm working on modifying the mag catch itself to be slightly taller, which SHOULD fix this for nearly all mags. I'll update the review if it works.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
The butt pad is rubberized and has a fine textured finish to it. It feels good for me when I shoulder it, more comfortable than the last P90 I held actually. I didn't mind the way the Tavor felt when shouldering it, so it's obviously something that differs from person to person, but for me, it's quite comfy. And those songs were Deadmau5, Strobe and 16th Hour I think.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
I didn't check for that, but the air-seal was great through it once I replaced the piston head O-ring. Before I swapped the O-ring, the air-seal was pretty bad. I gained almost 20 FPS just by swapping it.

Like I recommended in the review, you need to use some lock jaw pliers on the barrel itself once you've partially split the gun following my directions. This will allow you to get enough torque on the flashhider to break it loose. If the outer barrel is rotating, odds are you broke something. If you mean the inner barrel, that shouldn't be rotating at all, and if it is, you did something wrong. Removing it's not that hard, you just have to use the proper tools to get enough force on it.

APS sells direct to customers as well. They sell the midcap version of their short-style mags on their website for about $15 (granted, $40 in shipping) -They're supposed to be 120rds which is above average for typical short-style mags.
@booliganshootingsports11 жыл бұрын
It's not really threaded, only a 180 degree rotation to free it. If you are looking at the front of the gun, rotate it counterclockwise until it pops loose and can be pushed in.
@booliganshootingsports12 жыл бұрын
No skirmishes yet, but I've put about 1500 rounds through it so far, all of it on an 11.1v LiPo, with no issues. On a different note, I have 4 other APS manufactured guns, and only one has had any sort of issue, which was due to a faulty ball bearing. Their new gearboxes are absolute tanks, I don't see this thing failing any time soon.
@DeltaElite12112 жыл бұрын
The wiring is more than adequate to get a PEQ box on it. That's exactly what I plan on doing, actually when I get mine in. I just looked at my store display model and it has plenty of wiring, but you'll need to disconnect the tamiya connector and snake the wiring through.. then reconnect it again. Pretty easy stuff, actually.
@kevinjames503012 жыл бұрын
It has that same feel and sturdiness as an G&G F2000. The gun itself is well built and shoots great, the only flaw I found with it is most people have been unable to get the flash hider off due to a massive amount of glue. Yet, this gun is designed to take off the flash hider in order to disassemble the gun so that is only flaw I found.

Stephen Wu Hi, I actually own the S&T TAR21 Pro, it is amazing, I'm also looking maybe to buy the UAR, but I think I'm good with the TAVOR, The cons of this replica, I think, the only problem with it, is, if it's a problem, is the outside quality, the guns has like some little problems with the plastic, only on the glued thing, I can't explain myself.... it's like in the video, except that, it's awesome, I put it a black python cannon, and it's amazing!

Booligan, how is the plastic quality? I know you said the texture is nice, but I'm talking about the the QUALITY. Is it the heavy grade stuff (like on the ARES Tavor or the G&G FN2000)? That's really what either makes this gun an upper or a downer. Looks like a great potential upgrader. Normally I don't pay attention to guns in this price mark, but this one shows some potential promise. Let me know what you think.
@WHib9611 жыл бұрын
Do you recommend that buyers wait to see if they decide to refine some of the cons on the gun? The flash hider and trigger pull seem to be the biggest cons.
@booliganshootingsports11 жыл бұрын
Look at the full review I have linked in the info section, I explain how to do it. You simply take the butt off, place the properly sized allen wrench in the spring guide, push it in and turn it slightly, and pull it out. It's a 15 second thing. If you need a video to see how it's done, you're better off not trying, lol.

I doubt that ananyone is aware, but the Tan version of this gun must have been manufactured earlier, but it has a malfunction where the spring gets caught in the gears and rips itself apart. Black ones apparently are avoiding the issue. I have a black one and have not encountered anything major.
@ZachHarner45837 жыл бұрын
I had the same battery for mine, I ended up just smashing it down in there and it would sit snug. I would insert a screwdriver behind it and force it out. I eventually replaced it with a much longer, thinner stick battery, and it works pretty great. I had no problems using hi caps, but recently purchased some KWA mid caps. The magazines went in no problem, as the top of them was almost identical to the hi caps I had. However, they would not seat good. They would wiggle, and only feed one round, and then I would have to push on the back of the mag to make it feed more. I ended up using the velcro strip trick to fix this, but it took 2 stacks of velcro to do it, so now the mags are not so easily inserted or removed... Also, on semi and auto both, i noticed that it blank fires at random, and frequently. This is rather annoying when you're trying to lay down some suppressive fire. The first day I had it, the front mag release lever slipped off the metal tab it presses to initiate the release, I had to take it apart to fix it. The metal tab was completely smooth, no divet or hole for the lever to rest in, so I had to drill in a divet, and never had a problem since. I really liked the design of this gun, but overall, it felt like they didn't think everything through when they released it. The mid cap issue alone is a deal breaker for a lot of people. Hi caps can become incredibly annoying to play with, so getting stuck having to use them is miserable.

I think that everyone knows that, however, there is no real reason they couldn't have just opened up that hole a tiny bit more and make it compatible with 99% of the midcaps out there from the factory. It confuses the hell out of my why they didn't choose to do that. That being said, it's a pretty easy fix to do it yourself.

Very nice review, I'm considering buying this gun myself. A question though, how does this gun feel when shouldered? Hello Booligan, or whoever else wishes to read this. I have recently been looking for a bullpup design, but nothing seems to really satisfy me. The Elite Force Elite Line Tavor has EBB, which I like, a bolt catch, which I like, and a QC spring, which I also like, but that gun is not completely ambidextrous nor do I like its design. This gun has a QC spring and a bolt catch, but no EBB, however I like this external design much more. So, I am in a dilemma - I want a bullpup gun with a QC spring, EBB, bolt catch, Micro switch trigger, ambidextrous features, possibly polymer build and possibly a MOSFET, but there is none like it. I currently have a GSG G14, which I love, but I wish there was an equivalent bullpup.

Naw dude I have this gun, just mount it like you're sport shooting (i.e. put the bottom corner of the stock in the socket of your shoulder) and it works just fine. There's no recoil on non-blowback AEGs so if you have steady hands this mounting style is better anyway, better movement range cuz the gun's basically on a socket joint. However, I do use it with a tube-style red dot b/c these sights are useless at any range or in the dark.
