sir, i do not getting that in sedimentation we remove small particle then what we remove in rapid sand filtration as disinfection used to remove bacteria
@APSEDUVERSE7 жыл бұрын
Yes! We remove the particles in the sedimentation tank but all of the treatment processes have their efficiency which is below 100%. Sedimentation will remove larger particles and if we are using coagulation sedimentation then it will remove colloidal particles which form Flocs and settle but their may be some parties which could not make bigger Flocs or these parties did not settle because detention time in the tank was not sufficient for them to form Flocs. So these particles are removed in filters. Filter apart from these small particles can remove bacteria also which I have told in the video. Then we go for disinfection which removes the remaining bacteria and we have to be sure also that in the distribution system again bacteria does not enter so we keep some residual chlorine for that. So when it comes to design, cost of the plant is also a major factor that's why the treatment units are not designed for 100% efficiency but when we connect all these treatment units then the outcome is the water with desired quality.

sir in process of filtration if we use coagulant water then choking takes place sir please explain it
@APSEDUVERSE7 жыл бұрын
Yes it happens in case of slow sand filters because the void size is very small in this case. I think I have talked about it in other lectures of filtration.

Uniformity coefficient is 5 of slow sand filters
@abhishekpranav23285 жыл бұрын
Same doubt here.. I think Sir is right. Cu is given 5 in many coaching materials which is wrong, I guess.
