The then Health Minister, Edwina Currie, stated in a press release issued at the time of Savile's appointment in his Broadmoor position, and I quote: "He is an amazing man and has my full confidence." Needless to say, Currie, as with all of those associated with Savile, later made attempts to distance herself from the scandal that broke after his death. A nurse who worked at Broadmoor during Savile's time there commented that one of the inmates told him that Savile really should have been an inmate at the institution, instead of more or less being in charge of it. Truer words were never spoken.

Thank you so much for elaborating on Savile’s damage in Broadmoor. I knew he was bad. I’m horrified by the new realization of patients’ vulnerabilities and the raw fact that no one might believe them if they spoke out. How tragic!!!

Savile will have had access to extremely strong psychotropic drugs from 1968. I was drug-raped by Savile in Edinburgh in 1973. I always wondered why I couldn't speak + only ever remembered sections of the night + the amount of time I remembered never changed.

Back in the day my sister Tracey worked in a chinese takeaway in Crowthorne. She would stand behind a high counter and would love to chat to customers, especially the regulars. There was one man who came in regularly and would always order the same dish. An absolutely lovely, delightful, charming man! "A lovelier man you could not wish to meet" was how Tracey described this man. Yep, you guessed! It was Jimmy Saville!! Thank god for the high counter and staff working out back!! 😕

Exactly. Yet people who are struggling with depression and anxiety receive very little meaningful, effective support, and or resources. They’re simply given medication by the GP. I personally see it as a waste of public money “trying to rehabilitate” Broadmoor inmates/patients.

So, how long does it take to see some changes in patients at broodmoor? Once they're in broodmoor is the care of that individual now the hospital's responsibility? What does a patient require to be considered to be released which is into a medium security facility, right? Or is it like, once you're in broodmoor you're there for life?
@JCT-u7k Жыл бұрын
Broadmoor should be closed. And if needed, dangerous individuals transferred to prison. Its rubbish. Psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses justifying their own existence. Broadmoor represents a era when mentally unwell dangerous people were warehoused and treated like animals. Its an expensive failure. Unfortunately, some people don't respond to treatment and remain unwell. And violent. Prison is a more appropriate environment. Where medication can be given if needed. Numerous times Broadmoor has been accused of malpractice. This is just another example. He was hanging about this place for decades. People heard the rumours about him and done nothing. Because the staff at Broadmoor in between abusing patients were also fiddling their expenses and doctoring their time sheets. And Saville new about this so he had information about them. Which if reported to their superiors could have seen them lose their jobs. That's why they turned a blind eye to his activities. This institution is outdated and a law onto itself. Dangerous criminals have been sent there over the years. Peter Sutcliffe for example. Because it was easier for the authorities to have him there. How can someone be suddenly cured of psychosis? Sutcliffe was found to be sane at his trial. He faked mental illness to be transferred to Broadmoor. He boosted about this to other prison inmates. In order to be housed in more comfortable surroundings. Then decades later he was surprisingly found to no longer be psychotic. He was never psychotic in the first place. That's why a lot of violent, mentally unwell people should be in prison.
