For the 2nd question, the question states that what is the distance that has been covered by each tire. So, the answer should be 8000km itself. 32000km is the distance that is left after the fist tire has covered the journey which is not what the question is asking for.

Actually the vehicle runs on 4 tires on same time and not on only one, so every tire will run for 32k km to cover 40k km distance successfully while keeping one tire rest at a time.

Easy solution for question 3: 3x + 4y = 36 and 4x + 3y = 34 Add both eq. 7(x + y) = 70 => x + y = 10 Hence answer is 10

i don't understand the 2nd question and here is why let consider 5 tires 1,2,3,4 and 5 now we are using 4 tires and 1 on rest ok? after 8000 km we change one tire 1,2,3,4 tires have used for 8000km and 5 is 0km replace 5 with anyone of the other tires ( let suppose 1 is changed with 5) now 1 is on rest after again 8000km 2,3,4 are being used for 16000km and 5 is only 8000km and also 1 is at rest so used for 8000only again change one tire with 1 except 5 let change 2 with 1 now 2 is on rest with 16000km used again after 8000km that is 32000km 3,4 were being used for 32000km and 5&1 are used for 16000km with 2 used for 16000km again change one of 3,4 with 2, let 3 changed with 3 now three at rest after used for 32000km after 8000km more the total distance covered is 40000km and 1,2,3,5 are being used for 32000km each and 4 is used for whole journey that is 40000km
