Aputure 600D VS Forza 500: Thoughts and Comparisons

The output in power between the two lights is hardly the reason to choose one over the other. Both lights come close enough. The Forza is a great value at 500 dollars less with almost the same output and the ability to run at full power using V-mount batteries, but the 600D's far superior build quality, ergonomics, user experience, feature set, higher output, and integration with other Aputure products via the remove and Sidus App I feel justify's the higher price in my opinion and makes it my choice if I had to pick one.

I’ve had my forza 500 for about a year and a half now. I wouldn’t recommend that light over the 600d. The screws that tighten them are super cheap and can’t hold significant amount of weight. I use the dome and fresnel attachment literally on all my shoots and the forza 500 just doesn’t have the build quality for rigorous shooting. It definitely is powerful which is really cool but if you are always on the go and require various setups I just don’t think it’s a light designed for filmmaking. I do however think it’s a perfect studio light. Less you move it the better.

If you also have a hassle with soemthing on set is so unprofessional, well it makes you look unprofessional to those who dont understand. So ill take aputure then ahha

Great video bro! Indepth af. So one thing I found out is the Forza 500 is made of carbon fiber.. so the heavier something is the more our brain thinks it’s high quality usually. So after going back over it, I think the Forza might be more high quality than we think. But the Aputure def feels robust with all its metal

I was not aware of that and that’s good to hear. Definitely does increase my opinion of its quality. But I think then hit goes further than the head. The control box on the aputure feels much stronger. Fewer exposed ports. ( even down to the rubber gaskets that cover them when not in use) More robust v mount locks. And the cables are very high quality. It’s also weather resistant to a certain extent, which is a must for outdoor use in places like south Florida. But doesn’t take away from the Forza being really good at what it does. Blasting a bunch of light.

I'm going to eventually end up going for the 600D for the build and because of the ecosystem, I like having a whole family of well matching lights. With aputure's claim of light rain resistance/weatherproofing... I feel more comfortable using them in outdoor situations, which is a big draw for using these high power lights. It seem like aputure will eventually release a non pro version of the 600D to make it more comparable to the Forza price

I agree. I think aputure is doing it right releasing pro and non pro versions of the while still keeping everything compatible and working seamlessly with one another. User experience is key. Now if only they can actually get their stuff in stock.

You already went for it as it was posted 2 years ago haha but yeah how weather proof is it because they said light rain and for that I may aswell save 600$ and buy a nice umbrella for it haha. But then again I'm on a tight budget and I live in the UK so there's no such thing as light rain haha
