Nicely reviewed. Thanks for putting this together. Godox has really stepped up their game, and Aputure better watch their back.

Aputure improvements I can see needed... Longer leads. Single point yoke since only one side is needed to lock it. Run the cord from the bottom instead of the back of the unit. Barndoors need to close & cut a lot sharper like the GODOX. They should create and sell optional $39 4x npf solution for it & all their lights up to 100 watts. The fan noise has been helped via firmware.

Great comparison! Thanks for sharing, just found your channel and have watched a ton of videos in the past few hours. Appreciate the info. How would you say these compare to the Genaray Torpedo?
@Ranger7Studios2 жыл бұрын
I actually have 2 videos on the Torpedo. I had one forever. (Recently sold it.) The only downside is that the fan is extremely noisy. It's an older light, so it doesn't have the fan control that most newer ones have. It is however, incredible powerful and very useful if you don't need sound or it is off in the distance on your set. About as much as the 60D if not more so. I used it in my short film "Hello My Baby", as the spot light and for the key during the main part of the film. Just look up Genaray on my page and it should come up. Let me know if you have any problems finding it. I hope that answers your question and thanks for watching!

Thank you very much mate! Your review was great and very clear, even for someone who don´t speak english very well. I just get (2 hours ago) my Godox S60 and projection attachment but I don´t have yet the lens (I´m waiting for my 85mm which is in backorder). I already get some accesories but I didn´t realise that I can´t use the Gobo things without the lens (yeah dumb of me). Thanks mate again, you have a new follower ;)

I can power my 60d with 2x NP-Fs no problem. They drain fast, but the light is working. Seems your batteries in the video were not optimal.
@Ranger7Studios Жыл бұрын
I did talk to Aputure about that and you need the highest capacity NPF batteries. But you still don't get much out of the light on the NPFs. It's really made for V-mount, hence the v-mount lock on the side of the yoke.

A whole review and no mention of the Aputure LS 60d being weather-resistant? Check!
@Ranger7Studios Жыл бұрын
Not as weather resistant as you may think. I had one of the Aputures die on me this weekend due to the cold and fog. :( The Godox is still working. Check! ;)
@RMD2U Жыл бұрын
@Ranger 7 Studios I was expecting it to be tested or at least mentioned in a review of the product. It's a big influence on my buying decision, I'm picking one up Sunday when Adorama opens. Maybe I can figure out a way to test the weather resistance within the return window in case it goes bad.

What is the difference with Godox S60 and ML60?
@Ranger7Studios2 жыл бұрын
The S60 is a spot/flood light. The ML60, which I will be reviewing soon, is just a cob. The beam does not get smaller and wider like the spot/flood. It is a fixed angle.

Is it possible to use the godox projection lens in front of the aputure light?
@Ranger7Studios2 жыл бұрын
No. The Aputure’s mount is actually larger than the Godox.
@cuttingrooves2 жыл бұрын
@@Ranger7Studios I'm thinking it might actually be possible (indirectly), with the Bowens adapter ring on the Aputure light, and the Godox SA-17 Bowens to projection adapter. That will mean an additional piece of very hot glass in the light path though. Thank you for creating this comparison video :)
@CB-hd4fi2 жыл бұрын
@@cuttingrooves The attachment cuts about 50% of the light. Not a good idea.

I can confirm on Sunday. Stay tuned.

It's too small for the light, the light is so much bigger focusing made no difference. I took it back and got the Clar S60 (Adorama).

My god, most of what you said was wrong.
@Ranger7Studios2 жыл бұрын
Nope, pretty accurate, fanboy. ;) It is heavy, the barn doors do not shape as well, the npf mount is a bit useless and the projection mount is way expensive. So... Yea, that seems pretty accurate to me. Sorry to burst your bubble. ;) I did however buy 2 of the 60Ds right after this review because someone had a 40% off sale on them on Amazon. I added them to my Aputure rental kit. They are great for blasting light and work a lot like a mini120d. But as far as using the barn doors effectively... I'll stick with the Godox. Also... I'm under the suspicion, that the unit I tested, was either used and returned or was flawed. Some of what I said seems to be okay now. I will be posting an update on the new units soon.
@jayscott26852 жыл бұрын
@@Ranger7Studios ok look as I said you’re wrong about MOST of the things you talked about. The one thing your right about is the barn doors. They suck bad design. NPF battery mount is well designed and was meant to bail you out if you need battery power. With the NPF batts the light runs at full power. I tested with 2 970 batts and I got an 1hr 24min at full. So that pretty useful. Also I’m not sure what’s confusing to you about the battery info on OLED screen they couldn’t have made it easier if they tried. The operation of the light in general and all Aputure fixtures couldn’t be easier. Heavy are you kidding me. Someone’s never worked on a Film set with HMI’s. I’m not Fanboy, I have just been working if film industry for 25 years and I know great products when I see them.

@@Ranger7Studios NP batteries work great. Your points are just rambling about things you’re overly critical about. Something tells me Godox paid for this ad.

@Ranger7Studios3 ай бұрын
Another problems with the Aputure is, that if you leave a v-mount plugged in, it continues to drain your battery, even when the unit is turned off. And again, you can't point it exactly where you want it. So not a terrible review. Just honest.
