Turns out Sidus Link can be licensed by other light manufacturers so it is NOT proprietary in the traditional sense.

I'll invest in lighting next. Any recommendations for a decently non expensive start up set up? Thank you in advance Curtis!
@TDCIYB772 жыл бұрын
The low end Aputure "Amaran" line of lights would be my recommendation. Starting under 200$ you get good light quality, AND you can control and integrate them with any other modern Aputure lights. Mixing and matching lights from different brands is a pain in the ass, dont get those Neewer or other ultra budget brands. Aputure has great budget options, and you can grow in the Aputure ecosystem according to your needs!

Go with Nanlite, Godox or Aputure. All their lights are reasonably priced and offers good features and great quality.

I’d look at the Aputure Amaran 100D and the new Amaran panels: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onyrd5uFg9iUnZY

Hello Curtis, I was looking for the SSI parameter of the Nanlite Forza 720B to compare it with the Aputure LS600X, but I can't find it. Would you mind sharing it with me? Thank you very much, Ivano

Are you still using that aperture spotlight with 19 degree lens? How are you getting the dapple different color high lights in the background? cut taped color gels?
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but with the 36° lens and in this case, a Rosco prismatic glass gobo. I put a link in the description if you're interested in the details.

Great video as always! If you allow me one question please For a relatively small home studio, between the LS 600x Pro and the LS 300x, which model do you think would be the smartest and future proof to use as a key light? Thanks in advance and sorry fort my English; I'm still learning Have a Productive and Helathy day!

Hey Curtis. I’ve been waiting on the f3 review. Any idea of when your review it’s coming out?

My F3 arrives tomorrow so it should be in the next 2-3 weeks.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone test the water resistance yet in a product review. Kudos to you, I will admit it made me wince a bit. But worth "seeing" and therefore believing. 03:57

Hi Curtis, I just heard about the Aputure LS 600c Pro! It's a full color single point light source. They have announced it and are taking pre-orders. Talk to you later, Mathew

At 100% brightness would it run the risk of melting anything internally on the Spotlight Mount?
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t since it uses glass elements but time will tell!

SGC has tube lights that run on Sidus link. Sidus link is open to other brands if they want to work with it. Wireless DMX with a small DMX-It 524ew board is great if you don’t have a bunch of RGB lights that are channel hogs

Thanks Curtis but what about the FAN NOISE???
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Fan noise is present! This is NOT the light I’d choose for close head and shoulders talking head shots. I’d choose one of The smaller, quieter models.
@nshea32862 жыл бұрын
How much noise do the fans make, as compared tothe 600d? Is it useable near talent?
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
They sound about the same as the 600D. These are BIG lights and if you're doing a lot of head a shoulders talking head work, I'd probably opt for one of the smaller Aputure models. But they're quiet enough to use at 3 meters away. Depending on how particular you are, you might need to do some noise reduction in post.

Had it for a few weeks - sold it. I have found you can score lights all you want with meters but the real test is how they look with skin tones. Lights can *score* really well but perform poorly in real World usage.
@ahmedbadr862 жыл бұрын
What made you sell it? I feel it’s a bit weak for a 600 I guess im gonna switch it with the 600D
@derekjcooper2 жыл бұрын
Lights can perform really *well* when measured with a Sekonic @@ahmedbadr86 but that doesn't tell the entire story. The real test of a light is how it performs on subjects, like skin for example. I was disappointed by the color performance and sold it.
@curtisjudd2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I haven't noticed any oddities in terms of skin tones with the 600X. I guess it also depends partly on how your camera captures and interprets the spectral output of the light.
@derekjcooper2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree @@curtisjudd - performance will vary depending on the sensor being used. We shoot V-Raptor now and the only way we could be happy was to use a book light.

What makes it pro? Easy: The price! I wouldn't expect a lot of amateurs to willingly pay $2000 for a light.
